This is sort of a series of questions here...answer as you will.

Note that I'm not talking about going out of your way to support or not support a company here...I'm just talking about picking up a different brand at the grocery store, or going to a different grocery store, unless otherwise specified.

Would you buy from a business that supported your beliefs/values over another that didn't?
What about a business that didn't support your values, but you have a choice between that and one that is explicitly against it?
What if the product/service from the business you would prefer to support is inferior or you don't like it as much as the other--would you still pay for it?
And of course, how far out of your way would you go to support/boycott a company?

My beliefs are different from "main streem", I do enjoy going to stores that I know support or share them, but I live so far away that it just isn't practical. As long as I'm not being bombarted with their values, it doesn't much matter where I buy what I need at the best possible price. Personally, I don't think much good comes out of boycotting, they just seem to find customers elseware and then they still get their money, while you are just making yourself do without something you want or need.

I do support businesses that reflect my values-- for instance, buying locally grown food from farmers in my area instead of from the grocery store. I go out of my way a bit, but I feel better about doing it, and I feel that the quality is a good bit better than I can get otherwise.

As far as boycotting a business, I used to do that, but I finally decided that unless I was willing to write to the company and let them know why I was boycotting, it was a useless gesture.

I would support a business that supported my beliefs whenever possible.
There may be times when the wrong business is the only one with the product you need and you don't have a choice...

But when you DO have a choice, I think it's a good thing to do.....
Example..I am a Ford man....I have owed many new Ford cars and work vans.......but now, Ford has come out in support of gay marriage and similar issues and I have joined support of many Family Value Organizations that are boycotting Ford.
I hope they change soon, as I am needing a new work van.......Looking at Dodge

All other things being somewhat equal (as equal as they can be), yes, I would buy from the business that supported my beliefs. This is the same thing as NOT buying from the one that doesn't.

How inferior (or how much unequal) would depend on the product and my needs.

With today's shopping convenience I don't understand the "how far out of [my] way" part of the question.

i would love 2 support companies that hold 2 concepts that i share.

hopefully because of the concepts these companies believe in their products would be superior. if not i would be objective 2 a degree and perceive which products i need 4rm which store based on "intuition".

Suppoting companies - good. boycotting companies - unecessary. the karma of inaccurate decisions is sufficient.
