We had two cats that have lived together for about three years now. My son recently moved home with his cat, Vader. We kept him in our son's room until he got his shots and healed from de-clawing. All three cats have been "fixed" and are males. Only one cat JoJo chases Vader and makes his life hell. Vader and Edward get along ok. We recently moved to a new townhome and put the litter box in the garage and want all three cats to use it. Poor Vader has to be taken down to eat and use the potty. He is stressed out as well as we are..............help!!!!!!

You have 3 stressed cats, one more than others. Vador; who not only was stressed from moving; then you declawed him and then thru him into the mix with 2 resident cats. Poor guy!!

First of all; you need at least 2 litterboxes. With one box, esp in an unfriendly area like a garage; you are asking for trouble. Vets rec. at least 2 boxes and prefer a box for each cat. Otherwise, if Vador gets scared of his box (like you said) you are going to have him peeing elsewhere and then the other cats peeing on that for their own scents. You shouldnt put the boxes next to each other or in places where the cat inside the box can be ambushed.

I'd suggest starting over again. Put Vador in the room again with his own food/water and litterbox. Keep him there for about a week. Let the cats sniff under the door at each other. Get an old sock and pet Vador with it and then another cat. That will let them get used to each other's scent. After about a week; start opening the door a bit so the cats can see each other; but only a crack. Do that for another week or so. Then let Vador come out for 20 mins or so a day. Let him come out at his own pace. Do that for a couple of weeks, extending the out of room time more each time.

The hardest part is you have to let the cats fight. Unless they are drawing blood. The cats need to establish the hierarchy in the house. That is going to take time; and no set amount. Cats can get along great in a day; some years later only tolerate each other. If there is a big fight, use a water gun. DO NOT YELL. Yelling will affect the cat being beat up and scare HIM as much as the other cat...and you dont want that. It will make him more timid.

There are also products out there that can help. Feliway has a spray and a air freshner type idea that plugs into the wall. Feliway basically fills the air with cat relaxers that we cant smell. It can help relax the cats and ease the getting to know you process.

Cats can be like humans....we dont get along with everyone we spend time with either.

Good luck....

Depending on how long Tigger has been in the family, time is the only thing that can really bring them all together. Its like humans, when your introduced to something new it takes awhile to get used to it. I have 3 cats as well, 2 siamese who have been together at birth who we've had for seven years. About a year ago I adopted my new baby (Batman) from Petco and the siamese absolutely hated him! Let me tell you, Siamese are the pickiest animals in the world!!! But nonetheless, they accepted Batman after about 2 months. They all play and sleep together. Its really cute. Good Luck!

I am sure it did not do much for his self confisdence to declaw him. What a cruel and selfish thing to do to a cat. Declawing is outlawed in 25 countries.

I wouldnt hold my breath, you just going to have to deal with it.

As for the littler it may be hurting him ot dig in the little you know.

They probably get along great when one is looking! LOL... But seriously, I'd advise seperate litterboxes to get off on the right foot... paw... whatever. Good luck!

you should put vader;s food and litter closer to where he hangs; so he does;nt have to get chased to get food and litter. they will calm down but it will take awhile.....stress is just as bad 2 animals as it is for humans........... good-luck
