A constables job is to protect the people and the peace
a police officers job is to protect and serve
a law enforcement officers job is to bust you!
BIG DIFFERENCES!!

In Canada, a constable is what police officers are called. It is a rank issue, and constable is the first (after cadet) rank in the police services.
So you have Cst. Smith in Canada instead of Officer Smith.

Their function is law enforcement, but their duties vary for locale to locale. Some are just court bailiffs.
