Try using different shaped cookies cutters on cheeses, cold sandwich meats such as ham or turkey or bologna and buy the different shaped crackers to go along with them. Ants on a log, fruit and veggies cut up and arranged to make an animal figure or favorite character. I would think finger foods would be the easiest because you can make small portions and won't have to worry about forks and spoons for the kids that still have a hard time with that concept. Try coloring popcorn pink or purple or whatever.

Familyfun.com is a great magazine that has tons of ideas. I threw my son a "bug" party with ideas out of that magazine when he was 2 (bugs can be adapted for girls too). I made cupcakes and decorated them as bees, butterflys, ladybugs. I had "picnic" type foods (chicken strips, mac and cheese, etc as the main meal) then I also made fruit kabobs to look like caterpillars, and had dirt in cup as well (chocolate pudding, crushed oreos and gummy worms all in a dixie cup). I had a red and white checkered table cloth to lay the food out on and had bought some little plastic ants to throw around the table. It was a hit! you can check out the site for many more ideas and they sort it by age group to make it easier!

Those little cocktail hot dogs wrapped in crescent rolls are always a hit with the toddler crowd (especially when served with ketchup to dunk!). I find that if you open up the tube of crescent roll dough, flatten it out and roll it out some more, you can cut little triangles to wrap almost the whole package of little hot dogs. Have fun!

Just stay away from choking hazzards. You can do mini pizzas on pita bread, hummus and pita bread triangles, fruit with yogurt dip, mini cookies, or cupcakes, You can also make what I call toddler friendly trail mix... you take multi grain cheerios, plain cheerios, 2 different kinds of gold fish crackers, raises, golden raisins, My almost 2 year old LOVES that..

I made sketti for my little one's 2nd bday. Everyone could eat it, it wasn't loaded with sugar, and it wasn't a choking hazzard as hot dogs and other things are. And he LOVED it! That also made some cute pictures of him with the sketti sauce all over the place. His 3rd bday is in 2 weeks, and he wants to have sloppy joes. Whatever you choose, good luck, and congrats! :)

If you are doing a meal, meatless "chicken" nuggets and smiley fries are good choices. It's stuff most kids like but are healthy alternatives.
Any shaped crackers - cartoon characters, goldfish, etc are good choices.
