I know it's disrespectful to wave a flag of another country, and not the American flag when you live there, but is it a really big deal? What about the people who wave both flags of two countries? I thought we could have any flag we want here, because it's a free country. And I think it's dum to think someone is illegal because they have a Mexican flag.

I personally think the idea of two flags is cool. It shows you aren't forgetting your heritage but you are embracing and loving your new home.

I don't have a problem with waving the flag of another country in honor of your heritage. However, some who are waving Mexican flags are doing it on the same pole as the American flag, in America. International flag etiquette has the domestic flag higher than the foreign flag and to do the opposite is antagonistic and a literal 'put down' of the domestic government. Flying a flag on a high school (public building) where ONLY the domestic flag should fly, with the domestic flag inverted below is a statement of conquest. This happened during the marches. Flying it on a post office, as the illegals did in Maywood, CA a couple months back is the same.

I now see American flags under Mexican flags in a number of neighborhoods around Los Angeles. I don't try to extrapolate that to all illegals, and I am not even sure it is illegals (rather than domestic born) doing it. However, it is nasty, in my opinion.

I have one flag of the United States in our home that I treasure far beyond anything else. It was the flag that covered my father's coffin. When my husband dies, I have no doubt that there will be a flag over his coffin, and the coffins or our sons.
The flag of the United States isn't just waving in the air to keep birds off the flag pole - nor is it make of mere material.. it is made from the blood sweat and tears of those that served under it - those that have served, and those that have lost loved ones -
What's the big deal??! Good lord.. if you're a citizen of this country, you best get a reality check hun, and if you're not from the USA, then perhaps I can understand your question..

Do a search on the Internet. It just might do you some good.
There are RULES as to how the flag of the United States is hung/flown. READ THEM!

Is it just convenient for everyone to merely say, what's the big deal.. or ..can't we all just get along.. or or or..
I can't believe the foolishness of some talk.

I hear that "well it's a free country", "freedom of speech" and so on. It doesn't mean you are free to do and say anything you feel like whenever you feel like it. There are boundries and limits and while you are exercising your "rights" you best be sure you aren't tromping on the "rights" of others.
Granted a flag, any flag, is nothing more than a piece of material. Fabric. It's what that piece of fabric sybolizes that is so valuable. To burn it or fly another flag in it's place or disrespect it in any manner in this country is to literally spit in the face of the men and women who fought and died for this country. In the face of the people who worked so hard to make it a great nation.

You have the right to a Mexican flag. No one is saying you can't. It is your duty though, to display it in a manner that is not disrespectful to this country. Look up flag ettiquete and see the acceptable means.

This nation was a melting pot of freedoms because with those freedoms was respect and responsibility. We have managed to keep those freedoms because of that. Loose that and we will loose the freedom. Would you rather not be able to own a Mexican flag at all? Or learn the proper way to fly your flag without disrespecting ours while you live here? If you want freedom of speech then you also must allow others the safe means to do so as well, before they make it to where we can't anymore.

It's a very fine line. Tread carefully before the freedoms are abused and we don't have them anymore. You won't be taking just my rights away.....it will be yours as well.

It's not so much the flag,as what that flag stands for! It is the flag that represents our country! And YES, it's a big deal! People are fighting and dying for for our RIGHT to fly this flag! And i take great OFFENSE at those who would fly foreign flags in THIS country (it's a sign of invasion!) and it's an INSULT to the american citizens! NO FLAG is suppose to be flown ABOVE the U.S. flag!

Technically and Legally, you have the right to wave any flag you want while on U.S. soil.

Technically and Legally, anyone who doesn't like the fact that you're waving some other flag besides the U.S. flag has the right to speak their mind about it, including calling you un-American or traitor or telling you if you don't like being American than leave, etc.

In both cases, it's called freedom of speech. You have the freedom to say or wave anything you want, but we have the right to say or wave anything we want as well.

I think it's dumb to wave a Mexican flag while on U.S. soil. ...but that's just my opinion.

You sure can have the flag of any country here. The big deal is when the U.S. flag is not given priority, i.e., it must be treated with respect, not 'dipped' to any other nation, not displayed below another nation's flag, not displayed on the same flagstaff or pole as another nation's flag (U.S. state flags are ok, so long as they occupy the lower position on the display).
The 'Stars and Stripes' is a symbol of our nation and should be treated as such, not burnt, used as clothing, etc.
Find info on how to treat the U.S. flag at http://www.usflag.org/flagetiquette.html

You certainly picked an appropriate nickname didn't you?
I don't mean to sound mean, but do you know the number of men and women that fought and died under that flag so that you could have the right to set here on your computer and ask your questions? Thay died under that flag to preserve all of this nations freedoms for all Americans. If you have no honor for this flag then that is your right ,I guess. But millions of Americans honor our nations flag and don't want to see it disrespected or replaced by another country's flag.It is a symbol of freedom all over the world. Its too bad you have no respect for it.

The new immigrants who are coming to the US and hoisting foreign flags have no concept of the extent of sacrifice, hard work, blood, sweat and tears and wars it took to be able to raise our flag with honor. Raising a foreign flag over or instead of an American flag is a slap in the face to those who fought for our freedom.

Our country is a free country, but free doesn't mean that anybody could come to our country and do, act or disrespect our way of life. You have to ADAPT or go back, you have the Joice because our freedom give you that choice also. You have to understand what freedom is and then you be free. Like I said you can not serve to gods, make your pick, them or us, your choice, our freedom give you that, also. When you fly a foreign flag in another territory you are claiming victory over that territory, is that what you are doing when you fly the Mexican flag in the USA?? I hope not...
