I need to lose 60 lbs to have a healthy bmi. So I do need to lose a lot of weight and would love it all off and be nice and toned by the 4th of July when it starts getting real warm out so I can wear whatever I want;-) I know in the begining you can lose weight a little faster and then it levels off. So how much will I probably lose in the first two months with a real good balanced diet and consistent exercise? and then how much per week will I lose once it starts to level off? Is it healthy to lose 60-65 lbs from now till the 4th of July? I'd also make sure I'd get some strength training in there too. Any other tips be free to tell me.

Don't target losing more than about 2 lbs per week. If you try to lose faster, your body will go into "starvation mode" and get very stingy about burning calories while at the same time very efficient about storing any calories that you do provide. And it will make you feel awful.

A healthy weight loss would average out to 1 to 2# per week. When you first start a diet and exercise routine it will be faster and then it will level out. There will also be some weeks where you do not lose anything. With that much weight to lose make sure you see your doctor before starting any diet and exercise routine. Once he says you can go for it that is what you do. First off have breadfast everyday. It has been proven that people who eat breakfast lose more weight than people who skip breakfast. Second add more fruit and vegetables into your meals. Cut back on startches. Cut the size of your portions on everything. If you haven't been exercising begin slowly. This will prevent sore muscles and you can add more as you go along. A good first exercise is walking. Try for 30 minutes a day. This can be done either all at once or in 3-10minute walks.Doesn't matter as long as you do it. An easy way to get more walking in is to park as far out in the parking lot as you can and walk in to your place of work or into a business. If possible use the stairs in your office building. Go up one or two flights but walk down all of them. Obviously you can't do this in a really tall building but I would say anything 5 stories or less. Get a buddy. A work out buddy. If you are meeting someone for a walk you are more likely to be sure to take that walk. Set reasonable goals for yourself. You have to lose 60# but you are not going to do that all at once so set a goal of 10# at the end of the first month. Give yourself a small reward when you lose that first 10 and every 10 there after. Once you have started to lose weight then if you can afford it, it will be time to join a gym. If you cannot afford it check with the local parks and recreation department. Many communities have recreation centers with small fitness rooms and as a member of that community you can use them for a nominal fee. ( My town charges $35 per year) If you do all these things you will look good in a bathing suit next summer. You might not be bikini ready but you will be getting close. Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

If you want to lose 60 pounds here are a few tips:

Exersize consistently ( 30 min atleast 3 times a week)
Eat healthy ( add vegitables and fruit)
Drink water ( on average atleast 64 oz/ day)
Eat smaller portions of food ( people usually eat alot more then they really need)
Cut down on sugar intake ( you can still eat sweets, just limit the amount)

One pound is the same as 3500 calories. So if you want to lose a pound, count your calories when you work out. I would say it's ok to lose about 5-10 pounds in a month, but if you try to do that several months in a row, be careful. I think you can get there, just don't exceed your personal limits.

If you follow all these tips, I can promise you will be able to meet or exceed your goal. I wouldn't call this a diet, I would call it living healthy. You should adopt some of these things as part of your life style. Good luck!

it's a little too much weight to lose until the 4th of July but not impossible. How much you can lose and how much is healthy to lose during the first two months also depends on gender, hight, current weight, diet...etc.
My advice is not to set a strict date such as the 4th of July. You should focus on having a balanced diet and exercising programme and make it a life style not a means to reach a goal in determined time frame. of course it is more motivating to have such a target but it may also turn out to be disappointing and depressing if you don't reach the desired weight at that time.

I actually tossed that out the window.... If you're a significant character reminiscent of myself (five'five and 213 lbs) then wasting greater than that I dont suppose can harm Im no longer a health practitioner however I can let you know ive misplaced four kilos a week through sticking to the Protein Power Plan vitamin (kind of like Atkins/south seaside) and exercise. I think the first-class Ive felt in my existence and all Ive performed is reduce out carbs, expanded veggie consumption, reduced fruit consumption, and expanded water intake. I wager my reply wont be selected as first-class cuz quite i didnt real reply your query...... but when you are seeking to drop a few pounds so long as your doing it the proper approach i feel you shouldnt fear approximately two lbs a week, pass it at your speed.

I heard you lose 1-2 pounds a week and if you are losing more than that it's not good but do some research just to be sure for yourself.
