What is functional religious bigotry? If you call someone a religious bigot, what are they bigoted against? Is it a good thing to be bigoted against religious views that purport some sort of eternal damnation for the "bad" people as a major tenant of their belief system? Isn't abandonment a major issue with regards to love in our society? If one defines eternal hate as eternal abandonment, would not God be hating and therefore give permission for God's creatures when worshipped that way to be able to hate other creatures that are sinners in this way? Only the closest thing we can do to eternal damnation as a human to another human is to kill them right? So the illusion of our wrath is complete ..or terrorize them til they do it our way? Isn't that the extension of eternal damnation belief systems?

Well the opposite of love is NOT hate, it is apathy. Hate implies feelings still exist for the person or thing. Apathy is the absence of any feelings whatsoever. No amount of religious bigotry is good. Just as no amount of racial bigotry is good. Christians are not to hate anyone. You can dislike a lifestyle and know in your heart it is wrong in accordance to the scriptures but you are also bound to love the sinner, not the sin. And we are told to not judge lest we be judged. So in essesnce, all things are up to God to decide. He is the only one whose opinion really matters so why sweat it if someone else says you are going to burn in Hell? They have no knowledge or proof of that as they are not on the judgement throne. And they would have to get their own house in order before they hire a cleaning crew for yours.

God hates the sin, not the sinner. But God also is very clear as to what happens to sinners if they don't repent of their sins, live by His laws, and accept Jesus as their savoir. God does not ambush anyone. He is crystal clear on what He wants from us, and has given us a clearly paved wel lit road as to how to accomplish all that is expected of us from Him.

You can either freely choose to obey and follow God or choose not to which means you choose satan instead. There are not middle grounds or grey areas when it comes to God and his laws and what He expects from us. He was, is and always will be greater than we are. Praise the Lord!!
