I have psoriasis on my face which sometimes gets dry and flaky (especially in winter weather). Is there any makeup easily available in the UK that I could use to cover up without looking like I've got makeup on?

Yes, I have the usual male hangups about looking like I've a face full of concealer. And yes, I have absolutely no idea how to apply the stuff!

This is a great pressed powder that it totally Matt and has no "shimmer/sparkle) so great for men. And it's also great for people with demalogical problems.

But if you are looking for something with a little more cover-up

This is the Creme-de-la-creme of concealer products. It's what people use with scarring and tatoos. Only heavy if you apply if thick.

How to Apply:

1. For a natural look your foundation must match your skin tone.
Test foundations along your jawline. You will know the best color because it will disappear into your skin.

2. Spread foundation on your hands and pat it on your face, then smooth out with a sponge making sure not to pull or stretch the skin. Be extra careful in the area around your eyes where the skin is super thin. Don't forget to apply foundation on your eyelids and lips.

3. To make foundation last apply moisturizer first giving the foundation a base.
Dry skin will soak up the foundation if not given that base. For oily skin use an oil-free moisturizer and powder foundation.

4. On hot days foundation can be difficult to keep looking fresh.
Set your foundation in the morning using a loose powder and puff, then do regular touch ups throughout the day.

5. To cover imperfections apply foundation first and then go back and dot on a concealer that neutralizes red. For noticeable imperfections like very dark circles and birthmarks use a yellow concealer. Don't use too much powder in problem areas because it will draw attention to it.

6. To avoid a foundation line around the jaw apply foundation as usual then use a little moisturizer in your hand and blend it down your neck.

7. For evening mix some shimmer powder with your powder and put it where you want to attract light such as the bridge of the nose, underneath the brow bone, the temples, cheekbone, chin and shoulders.

8. Always use a foundation with a sunscreen of at least 15 to prevent future sun damage.

9. Change your foundation shade if the color of your skin changes.

10. After you apply foundation go near a window to make sure it looks natural. Natural light is the ultimate test.

Also there are different things you can use to apply the make-up. Fingertips, Sponges or brushes.

I would recomend a Foundation Brush. Fingertips is not the most hygenic way of doing it but some people prefer this. Sponges can aslo harbour bacteria if not washed out regularly.

You can probably pick on up for less than this but it gives you an idea of what they look like.

This is the brush I have and it was pricey but applies the foundation flawlessly!

Here below are some ways of keeping your skin soft during the winter months:

Drink up. Counter dry air and the associated irritations by drinking more fluids. Water is the best choice. Low-fat milk, fruit juice and other drinks without caffeine are OK, too. Even soups and broths can help.

Shower smart. Short baths or showers are easier on dry skin than are long soaks. Use only mild soap or synthetic detergent. The temperature matters, too. Use warm — not hot — water. If your skin is very dry, bathing every other day may be best.

Moisturize. After bathing, gently pat your skin dry. Lather up with moisturizer while your skin is still damp. Thick, greasy moisturizers work best. You may want to look for cosmetics that contain moisturizers, too.

Lube your lips. Use lip balm or petrolatum (Vaseline) to soothe chapped or sore lips.

Try saline nasal spray. An over-the-counter saline nasal spray can help moisten your nasal passages. Saline sprays can be used as often as needed until your symptoms improve.

Use a humidifier. A portable home humidifier or one attached to your furnace adds moisture to the air inside your home. Portable humidifiers come in many varieties. Choose one that meets your budget and any special needs.

Keep your humidifier clean. Without regular cleaning and maintenance, bacteria and fungi can grow in your humidifier's tank — and become part of the moist air you're breathing. This can be risky for people with weak immune systems, mold allergies and certain chronic conditions, such as asthma. Clean your humidifier regularly according to the manufacturer's instructions. If the humidifier has a filter, change it at least as often as the manufacturer recommends — and more often if it's dirty.

Avoid excess humidity. Ideally, humidity levels inside your home should range from about 30 percent to 50 percent. Excess humidity — higher than 50 percent — can promote the growth of dust mites, mold, fungi and bacteria .

I really hope this all helps. If you need any more advice let me know. I'm a skin care Queen! :)

Cover up would probably make the psoriasis worse! At night, put some psoriasis shampoo on the affected areas of your face and leave it overnight-then wash it off the next morning. That should help ease any flare ups. Alphosyl is a good one to use.

hey!

There are a lot of cover-ups that are designed for both men and women, to be honest I suggest you find one that is clinicaly designed not to aggravate your skin..sure u can find it on the internet..

More importantly though, I really hope you don't fall into the trap of cover up as a daily routine. I personally dont think cover up is the answer, once you realise that u'll feel totally free dude..!

there is nothing wrong with guys wearing make up and if it's ur confidence then sure go for it although if there are indentations it might be hard to cover up as make up will just sit in hole although will bring back the colour if you buy the right shade of foundation or concealer hope this helps
