Add to that: having parents of another religion.

Please, only serious and honest people answer. Please be specific as to how or why you'd have remained in your religion if born in a country where the dominant religion was another. I don't want retarded answers like "because that religion is stupid."

Say you were born in the bible belt and became a Christian. What makes you think you'd still be one if you had been born in Palestine? Vice-Versa. What makes you think you'd have been Jewish if you had been born in Greece during the time of the Greek Gods? What makes you think if your parents were Scientologists and brought up in the church that you'd not end up a scientologist?

Most importantly, what does this say about the credibility of your religion and your faith?

By the way this can also apply for former non-believers that turned into the religion that's prominent to where they live.

People are conditioned by their family, and surroundings and conform to a religion. But being humans with free will, some choose to overcome their conditioning and find something that may speak true to them. I'm considered christian now, but if I was raised at another point in history, I believe that if I was introduced to christianity, and was taught about it in the right way (not by war, crusades, or being "taught" how to be "civilized") that I would follow it.

Good question. Who can really say? It's all theoretical. I think I would feel the same way about my beliefs because they derived from my conscience, not something someone else told me to believe. I wasn't always that way, of couse. As children, we have little choice, but as I grew up, I spent time misguided because I misunderstood the signals my conscience was giving me. A deep personal experience, which had nothing to do with established religion, or anyone other than myself, really, helped me better understand those signals. However, I AM still a work in progress, and probably will be till the day I die.

I Believe that God has a purpose for every religion from Christians to Buddhist. But I really think He focuses on the relationship you have with your God. No religion can be in the wrong if you were brought up that way unless you have a conviction in your heart that its wrong or not for you. In the end, He will look at the most faithful, and not the most religious. Just my opinion.

We will beleive the way we are brought up. I'm Christian today because that is what was available to me in my upbringing. I find it to be truth for me and for others, and I find myself to be fortunate. If I were raised in another culture/another part of the world, I would have believed the way that that culture believes. This is why I feel that foreign mission work is important - Never to force my beliefs on anyone, but to make them available and to share what God has done for me. That's all. If others find that my beliefs are right for them, then praise God.

You know...thats a great question.

And I would be lying if I said I knew exact answers.

But I think I have a firm believe in One God.

So my faith would support that. Id probably have serious issues if I was Christian because I dont think Jesus can be God. I dont think any human can be God..it just doesnt make sense to me.

Peace out

Too many situations the religion we are born in is what we are our complete existence. i do no longer understand notwithstanding if it somewhat is because of the fact all human beings is too lazy to seek for god on their own or in the event that they're only scared to dying as toddlers via an offended preacher pounding the visualization of a blazing hell of their youthful minds. the odds are that a person would become a member of whatever the religion which the culture, society is where one grows up. the only variable which might possibly affect this would be the religious belief system of the parents until the child is old enough to make their own decision.

Because I am an american born polish woman who all of poland are catholics. But by the grace of God, who sent a young Chrsitian man to me who led me to Jesus, Praise the Lord, i am a born again Christian.

When God leads you to the truth, you can't hide from it, and He will send someone all over the world to make sure you are led down the rightous path. But it is up to the individual to accept this truth or not.

The truth is out there, and when it finally has been exposed to all 4 corners of this world, and only God knows when that will be, and to His satisfaction, He will then send His son Jesus to rapture His chruch. Praise the Lord. I am going to be a part of that rapture!!!

My parents were not Christians. I came to my faith after years of searching and reading about Chrisitanity and other religions as well. I would guess I would have done the same anywhere or any time.

Yes, I was raised by Christian parents, and yes I am a Christian. I do not believe in God because my parents taught me to do so. I have examined the Bible with an open mind and came to the conclusions myself.
