I'll keep it short. I like this guy, he seems keen on me, he asked for my number Saturday night, after about six months of flirting between us. How many days shall I leave it? He text when he got home Saturday night to say "sweet dreams". I was thinking of giving it a week before I contact him again, is this about right? Now we actually seem to be going somewhere (at last) I would kind of like to move things forward but I do not want to sound desperate!

I have always wondered why people feel the need to act casual when they're truly excited. Call him now! You want to.

Let him do the running. Let him contact you. Believe me, if he was interested he will NOT have lost your number. If YOU contact him, you will never know if he would've contacted you and when we would've done it. If he texts, send a short text like 'love to see you, but please ring me'. It seems some guys just like having a girl or several girls at the end of a text as it were but dont really commit to going out or doing anything. If he wants to move it forward, he will. There is a book called 'He's not that into you' or something like that. It's true that if he doesnt ring, hes not that bothered.

I think texting him with a light-hearted message will show that you are keen, but not desperate. Waiting a week could leave him thinking that you are not interested, so get texting now. He'll probably be very pleased to hear from you and then take it from there. Hope it works out!

Your a woman and dont know the rules? Even Ive managed to figure them out now....
Get a number and leave it 3 days before ringing, 2 to text.
Receive a text message and dont answer it for half an hour.
Simple.

Have you acknowledged his first text? If not I would now, he probably thinks you have had second thoughts about it and that's why he hasn't bothered to text you again. If you like him just do it. What you waiting for? Personally I think a week would be too long - playing it way too cool.
Carpe Diem - sieze the day!!!

Why wait? He used the number right away, so that you'd know he really wanted it. It seems more like you're playing games if you wait so long. I don't think it's "desperate" to return a phone at all. He asked for your number, then called, so you're in the clear. Go for it girl!

He has already expressed to you that he likes you. Don't make him wait a week. He will not think you are desperate. Do what is in your heart. I think that when we try to 'play games', in the end it just doesn't work to our benefit. If you have to play games to make the relationship work, there is something wrong. Again, it doesn't sound to me like you have to do anything. You like him, he likes you, go have fun!

Just enjoy it. Don't worry about "rules" as there aren't any. Me and my boyfriend text about 40 times a day when we first met and now we're buying a house together. He's obviously keen if he text you on the first night.

Men love the chase, but I would text him now and ask him how he's been. He might think your being funny if you didnt text him back on Saturday! YOU GO GIRL!

So he finally asks for your number and now you want to put time in between contacting him. ...Don't wait too long or else he may think you are sending mix signals. You've waited for this moment, don't let it slip away. I am not saying to act desperate but I am not saying to act too carefree either.
