Thanks for the answers.

I have been asked to walk some dogs for people in my town. Hence, I would like to know what I should be charging them.

Think most people thought I wanted my own dog walked (which I don't)

My local dog walker charges £6 an hour, thoughsometimes he will spendtimewith thedog rather than walk it for an hour. I think that's the going rate.

It depends where you are! Personally, I'd look in my local Yellow Pages, or equivalent, under "Pet Services", and ring up a few to get the best value. That doesn't necessarily mean the cheapest - you'd have to ensure that the dog walker has appropriate certification and references, and is strustworthy (through word of mouth would be best). Also, ask how many dogs they take for a walk at any one time - the less, the better.
As to the cost - it's all relative. What are you prepared to pay? If it was a professional dog walker, I'd be prepared to pay up to about £7:50. If this were to be a regular occurance, I'd ask for a discount...

Best of luck - hope you find a suitable dog-walker!

If you decide to pay someone to walk your dog be carefull of who you choose. My friend let someone take her dog for a walk and she hasnt seen her dog since :( nor the person for that matter. For this reason I recomend taking your dog for a walk yourself. You may really like it and it is a great way for you and your dog to bond with each other and you save money so youll be on top !!! Nothing to lose all to gain !!!

I assume that you would want your dog walking every day from Monday to Friday which is 2 and half hours a week. About £20 a week.

When I was home health/hospice nursing, I was able to take my dog with me on the job. But, occasionally, he got dropped off at home because it got too hot. (Over 100F). I hired a college kid he liked next door for $10.00/hour to walk him and keep him company until I could get back home to him. He was an elderly little dog.

If you lived closeby to me i would walk your dog for nothing. If i had to charge i would charge five pound a walk. But most of the time i charge zilch, see i am a nice person.

I would look in the yellow pages and get a firm with references or next time your at your local vet ask them to recomend. If you have close friends with teenagers then maybe they would be willing to do it about £10 should cover it.

What is 30 minutes worth to you? To me, it is worth about $10. Especially if it is a neighborhood kid. Can't go wrong giving a kid $10 for some honest work. Plus, it may make him/her a pet lover and we all know we need more of them in the world.
