Once again Christians display a woeful ignorance of the history of their own faith.
"X" has been an acceptable and legitimate abbreviation for "Christ" for as long as Christianity has existed. It is the Greek symbol for the first letter of Christ's name. Yes SOME people use it as a sign of disrespect, but most use it as short hand, and there is nothing insulting, disrepectful, or impious about doing so.
As far as G-d, there are those who believe it is sacriligeous to write God's name, and that is their solution.
It's not too "hard" to write God or Christ, but it is some people's CHOICE to, and they are entitled to that choice without being constantly criticized and slandered by people too ignorant to understand why.

The use of X-mas stems from the use of the Greek letter X, pronounced Chi, being used as a shortened version of Christ. Presumably X-mas was originally pronouced Chimas.
As for the Xians thing, that's aimed at people who claim to be God's chosen people and is meant to be derogatory.
The G-d thing is from catholicism. Supposedly it's is a sin to write God's name on something and then destroy it. I'm guessing that since questions/answers can be deleted that they do it just to be on the safe side. I don't think it's a Jewish thing as I'm sure they believe God's name to be Yahweh/Jehovah and "God" to be simply a title.

I think only Jews or those affected by jews say G-D
Whereas those who say xian actually do it out of mockery.
I dont believe that I need to take Jesus as lord in order to be saved..but I cant mock a God sent religion either.
And no I have no problem saying Christ. I just use it to express my love of Jesus and the teachings he brought.

Who knows except those who actually use those shorthand methods....but if it is out of some sort of shame...we are not to be ashamed of the cross of Christ....if I treat Him with respect and love, He will treat me in the same manner...If I am ashamed of Him, He will be ashamed of me.

G-d is usually because the person is of a belief that forbids writing or using God's Name.
All the rest are because of disrespect.

Xmas and Xtians are basically insults to show disbelief. G-d is generally reserved for people who find his name to holy to speak or say.
