Since hip replacement surgery is considered elective surgery (meaning that it isn't usually done on an emergency basis) a certain amount of planning and preparation can occur before the surgery is performed. The requirements for a successful hip replacement include the ability to follow through on instructions for exercises and rehab and a certain level of health. Older people sometimes have other health issues but this doesn't preclude their having the surgery so long as these health issues are under control and are being treated. Plenty of 81-yr-olds have this surgery. Her primary doctor would be consulted to clear her for the surgery.

No ,The price of knee joint replacement surgery is very low in India as compared to USA, UK and Canada. My cousin also got her hip replacement surgery in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She is totally pain free now. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.
Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines. I have read a lot of their patient stories also. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as all joint surgery is not covered by insurance in USA or by NHS in the UK. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that your surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps

That would depend on her lifestyle, mental state, and other illnesses she might have. If the physician clears her then no she isn't too old. However, I think age has less to do with it than other factors.

A doctor would be able to tell based on everything else in her health chart. I have a friend who is 92 and actually had surgury for cancer ontop her head. They put her to sleep and she came out just perfect. 81yrs of age is young. :)
