Okay, I have asked your guys'gals advice on my ex girlfriend. She dumped me a month ago because she said that she really needed to figure out what makes her happy and sort things out in her life. Her father passed away 4 months ago and she told me that she has been unhappy for a very long time. She is in therapy for these issues. When she broke up with me she asked me not to hate her and that the timing of us sucked because of her problems. She wanted to be friends, but I told her that I could not right away because I knew I would have hidden intentions cause I still had strong feelings for her. I needed time to get over her. So with her Bday coming up I asked you guys/gals if it would be okay to txt her on her birthday. You guys seemed to think that this would be a good idea because you think she would like to hear from me, but how do I know that she would like to hear from me. We haven't talked since the breakup?

i think she would like to hear from you as long as you don't say something like " hey baby i really miss you and want us to go out sometime" you know what i mean. just tell her that you wanted to wish a friend happy birthday and you were wondering how she is doing, be friendly not pushy. hope it all goes well!

seems like she was hit with a lot of things at once. the death of her father obviously affected her deeply and overwhelmed her mentally. as for you texting her on her bd, don't its too impersonal....call her or send her a bd card. just a nice note to say happy bd. it will show two things..one that you aren't pushing her but two that you care. let her approach you about rekindling the relationship once she heals.

You asked for advice and received it, hon. Either text her Happy b-day or not, it's up to you.
