not for development but to cnvey what u hav thought of and discovered.... 4 eg indians wrote there books in hindi and chineese did everything in chineese and both of these countries are rapidly developing and form 1/3 of the present world... however majority of the books and literature is written in english so to remove english from thw world stage you will have to figure out a way such that all books can be translated into other languages... other wise english is essential for development after basic development is done(which is schooling)..

Well, I don't think it's really needed for development, I live in Spain, and I know a lot of people which is completely deny to English and doesn't speak a word in any language , but always, is interesting to know English, at least to find more help and more opportunities...

You know it is. Not just in the US and Britain either. English is becoming the universal language of business and science. If you want to succeed you will have a knowledge of English.
