Exactly. If it's not a Religion, then it can not be protected under Freedom of Religion. I can't claim my relationship with my husband is protected under that. Or any of my Relationships.
They really should be careful about how they represent their religion, because just as easily as the Christian Politicians have twisted the laws to cover only the mainstream religions in many cases, they may soon find it being done to their own to the same extent.

Religion is a belief system and in that sense it is a religion, but it is actually, as said, a relationship with God. When you become a Christian you become a child of God. Without that no one is a Christians even though they may call themselves one. The Bible says the Lord knows those who are His. No one else really does.
They don't don't give tax breaks to religions, but to charitable organizations, of which churches fully qualify. There are many charitable organizations that are not churches.

Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism,.. or any other religion-- is nothing but following the directions of sages/prophets - to attain the ultimate truth and innate happiness.
To attain that, one needs to understand what God, the Creator desires us to do, the way He wants us to treat our neighbours, friends and strangers, our country andthe others.......
To understand this we need to establish a communication with our inner selves- the soul- a representative of God.
The religious sages/prophets/ padres/ Pandits/Lamas/Imams - Churches, Temples, Vihaars, Mosques...all guide us to the desires of God and to attain that inner peace without which we can not communicate with HIM.
This guidance to communications with the Almighty- it's a great job- mostly done in philanthropy - It also desists most ppl from commiting crimes (sins)- Funds are needed to help the needy and for up-keep of the establishment- hence the Tax Breaks.

Christianity is a religion that show people how to be in good terms with God and the Bible is a book of God. But christians have mistaken God for Jesus and Jesus was created and chosen by God as his messenger and God created the Holy spirit who is an angel called Gabriel also a messenger to God's prophet. And it has been like this since the creation of Adam

Christianity is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Churches and Faith Based organizations are classified by the IRS as non-profit business entities. You are trying to mix apples with oranges. If you want to eliminate the tax breaks for churches and the like, then let's eliminate the tax breaks for EVERYBODY and we can all become slaves of the IRS.

Technically, Christianity isn't a religion. It is an umbrella term for several religions started by Abraham that branched off following Jesus as the messiah of the Hebrew faith and then further divided into the multiple faiths that formed from this.

It is a religion, which has many different denominations, and within this religion one develops a relationship with God, through Jesus Christ. Not all, however, develop such a personal relationship, that is a personal choice, how seriously you take your religion. God bless you, hope you have great day!
