all kids are different. my daughter was potty trained at 18 months, but my son was about two and a half. i had the same problem that you're having. he just didn't want anything to with it the first couple of tries, but then he was fine.

don't force it. that can traumatic for both of you. keep trying every so often, and it will happen.

Boys just take longer. My first son was not interested in potty training at all until he was 3, but when he did it, it was DONE. There was no fighting or going over and over it. It just happened. And there were NO accidents either.

Just mention it to him often and offer to take him. Also, look for the video "Once Upon A Potty (for him)", that works well to help them understand the concept of the potty.

My youngest is about the same age, and we're just starting to get interested in the idea.

Boys normally are later than girls with potty training. We started my son when he was about the same age and by 3 he was potty trained. All this train in a day stuff I don't believe in. Take your time but be consistent , the more stressful you make it the worse it will be.

Well make sure you have a potty chair, the one I have plays a song when my son goes, he gets a kick out of it. I just started by letting him go naked around the house and I would tell him BIG BOYS go pee pee on the potty. It helps if he see you go or your husband. I would bring him in with me when I went pee. He would ask what I was doing and I tell him. We even came up with a potty dance so he knew what a good job he is doing. He was easy-er to potty train then his older sister. Get him some big boy underwear that really helps to... Good Luck and just don't try and push him to much he will do it when he is ready.

Just be patient all children do it in their own time my son was almost 3 before he was trained and my daughter is 33 months and just out of pull ups belive me it will happen. Try using little treats such as milk buttons everytime they use the potty be patient

Try, try ,and try again. Usually by age 3 they are trained. Don't give up. Check out Dr. Phil's website for a great way to potty train. Apparently it works in one day. But even if it doesn't, don't give up. If you give up he gives up.

Most children show signs of readiness to begin using the toilet as toddlers, usually between 18 months and 3 years of age.

These signs include staying dry for at least 2 hours at a time, having regular bowel movements, being able to follow simple instructions, being uncomfortable with dirty diapers and wanting them to be changed, asking to use the potty chair, or asking to wear regular underwear. You should also be able to tell when your child is about to urinate or have a bowel movement by his facial expressions, posture or by what he says. If your child has begun to tell you about having a dirty diaper you should praise him for telling you and encourage him to tell you in advance next time

There is no last stage. You cant start if they are not ready. Starting when they are not ready often will delay it. He has to make the choice. Have you gotten potty books?

I was told for a boy, 3 is normal. My son will be 3 in 3 weeks, we just started trying and he's not showing much interest. I was told, once they turn 4 then you should start worrying.
