haifa is an arabic name, the difference is that the two names are pronounced differently
haifa (actress) is pronounced : hayfa
haifa (Israeli place) is pronounced : Heefa

the name haifa is originally arabic it means "tall"
when the arabs wanted to comment on a tall beautiful girl, they say she is haifa, and thats how the lebanese singer got her name.

Haifa, city and chief seaport of Israel, in the northern part of the country, on the Bay of Haifa, at the eastern end of the Mediterranean Sea. Haifa is also a word in Arabic...it's a conjugated verb "حاف" which means few different things. Haifa = حائفة --moving woman --Hiding woman It doesn't have to be a woman, it's just taking about a female. It could also mean "put a side "حاف" or "attack or surprise"...it depends on the context.
