sharky: Marry within your own culture. This will go a long way in contributing to the success of the marriage. I know girls who have married outside their culture and some did alright but most hated it. Marriages are different in other cultures - sometimes, very devastating. One girl I used to go out with, married some guy from another culture. The guy was very handsome and nice to people. She was on her honeymoon in the Mediterranean and he suddenly changed and ended up punching the crap out of her. She divorced him and is still single to this day. What you think and what is real in your fiance's culture concerning marriage, are two, entirely different things !!! You become "property" not a "wife" as you know it. By the way. How do you know that he is not marrying you to gain citizenship in your Country? What if he divorces you thereafter ? Think before you "sink", there "sharky" !!!

No it wont be crazy, the image and other things which you hear are not always true. There is no concept of relationship other than marriage in Pakistan. People only see Pakistanis with vail and conservative angle its not like that. I am married, my wife stayed in USA for 5 years, I never objected and why should I as its her career and success and her success is my success. As far as working in Pakistan is concerned, she is working in a Medical establishment, she dont wear vail, neither a conservative. She drives her own car and roam around in the city wherever she wants. As far as the question of joint family, its no more her in Pakistan.Parents are also liberels. Excxeptions are always there. It is there in Christians as well, you can take the example of Catholics and protestents. Its not the Pakistan what it was 20 years back. We are now Elightenend country witout extremism. ou can see the steps being taken to curb extremism and Promote moderate environments with women having equal rights. We had Benazir as woman PM.

Your talking possible complications with the area and religion. Nothing against Pakistan, but I think there is a male dominance issue also. Think it through and do research.

Just be real careful!!! Sounds crazy, If your planning on moving there you might wanna hide copies of your passport so if you have to leave it will be alot easier. Do me a favor, Rent the movie "Not without my Daughter." Sally Fields is in it. Its a true story and it might help you out.

i tried to make it work with a pakastani boy for 2 years i'm canadian and he would never tell his mother about us....he said he would if we decided to get married....i am now in a relationship where his parents are accepting, he's latin but that doens't matter and it doesn' tmatter if i'm white...
the muslim culture runs deep and they don't want outsiders...don't waste your time the family will never accept you expecially if you all live in pakistan..they will treat you like a goat!
it might be a nice life you won't have to work but you will not be happy...
his mother knew i exsisted but would bring home muslim girls for him to meet....she was trying to sabatoge everything...
and in th eend i wouldn't live like that....the children would have to have been raised muslim...it was too much for me

Pretty hard hon! you'll have no rights! like you have now! The man takes precedence on all matters pertaining to your welfare, living standards, and they will beat you for minor infractions, And your mother -in-law can beat you too! believe me! Run hon! Dont go there! Find a western man.
