Yes.
What chance? None! - that is why we are leaving it and going to a better place, then just see what life will be like here without anyone left to try to curve the violence. There will be great tribulation on the earth.

St. Aquinas understood and showed the whole of Christainity the Just War Doctrine. It is as follows from the Catholic Catechism -
"2309 The strict conditions for legitimate defense by military force require rigorous consideration. The gravity of such a decision makes it subject to rigorous conditions of moral legitimacy. At one and the same time:
- the damage inflicted by the aggressor on the nation or community of nations must be lasting, grave, and certain;
- all other means of putting an end to it must have been shown to be impractical or ineffective;
- there must be serious prospects of success;
- the use of arms must not produce evils and disorders graver than the evil to be eliminated. The power of modem means of destruction weighs very heavily in evaluating this condition.
These are the traditional elements enumerated in what is called the "just war" doctrine.
The evaluation of these conditions for moral legitimacy belongs to the prudential judgment of those who have responsibility for the common good. "

The Christain world understands these to be the reasons to go to war.

That is such a funny question!!!
I am a christian and i can't believe a non-christian (assuming you are) would have heard of this and would be worried or concerned by it. It really sounds funny the way you have written it.
In the bible if you read it in context it is actually a lesson about not trying to get revenge on someone. It is an expression where it is better to let the person try to hurt you again rather than seeking revenge on that person or hurting them back. It is supposed to be Gods job of who has done right or wrong and forgiving or handing out punishment accordingly. We are not meant to take it in our own hands and get back at the person, otherwise we are not behaving the way we ought.
Hope that helps!
Try reading the bible when you get information like this - it actually makes sense then

This is something that as time has moved on has lost its original meaning. Christians were taught to give the right cheek when their left cheek was slapped but the hidden old meaning to this was that it was actually illegal to do anything with your left hand. So if you offered your right cheek the only way someone could slap you again was to use their left hand and face punishment for doing so.
Basically it is telling you to give someone enough rope to hang themselves. Not quite as peace-loving as one would think, huh.

Matthew :
An Eye for an Eye
38"You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.'[a] 39But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.
Yes. Some have faith that God will take care of it, and it is not our responsibility for revenge.

Yes. Christians are not under law but Christ taught to go beyond the law. Christians survival in the world is not nearly as important as their eternal life. God's word will survive forever.

That whole turn the other cheek nonsense doesn't jive with the rest of that book. There's plenty of violence perpetrated by Christians in the bible.

The same chance a caring Mother has to instill respect and understanding from their child. Replying with force has not worked yet - why do we continue to think it will.

Jesus said, "But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get?"
