i would say chemical engineering, because of it's diversity and brilliant applications, a chemical engineer can relatively touch in almost any field of engineering, don't forget that the earth is running out of natural resources such as coal and oil so it will up to chemical engineers to develop a feasible solution(possibly cold fusion as a solution) i'm a student in chemical engineering, and it is a prestige to evaluate possible solutions.

If you ask me, it is CIVIL ENGINEERING. Because now all the countries are on development mainly on roads, infrastructure, power, water supply.... So good scope for Civil Engineers.... they are the most wanted people for the world now. Hats off to them. In the near future, they will be remunerated the most......

If you will ask me , I would suggest you that you should select which takes much of your interest.as evrything depends uopn you , if you are best in your profession , whatever is your profession money will never be problem for you.
Currently most of software and BPO companies paying high with Chip designers people at top.

electronics and computers(IT)are most opted here in india .
nanotechnology stream is excepted to boom in the future.
it all depends on which country you are and which industry is at peak in that country
