I have seen in many movies people, by using some techniques, communicating with those living in heaven. Is there really any such method or are these just flights of fancy? Secondly, say there is such a method, can the person using it decide with whom he/she wants to communicate? For example, can a person, provided he/she knows how to do it, talk with say, Napoleon today?

Those who are dead cannot communicate. By Christian teachings those that are dead do not ascend to Heaven until the Second Coming. Until then, they're dead.

God strongly warns us in the Bible (Book ofDeuteronomy) not to communicate with the dead. He warns us because He loves us and knows of the danger of becoming possessed by evil spirits. There's no place in Heaven for such people who do those things. In the book of Luke chapter 16, Jesus explains that there is no way of contacting those who have died. Spirits live forever, so an evil spirit knows all about your loved one and can imitate him / her in order to get you to believe you're speaking to him/her. Once you've opened up yourself to communicating with an evil spirit, he will possess you and make your life hell on earth.

No. Once a person is dead, you cannot communicate with them. Anyone who says different is deceived by Satan and his demons. Demons can take on the appearance and voice, etc. of a person. This is done to deceive you into thinking that the person you are communicating with is your dead auntie, uncle, granny, etc. And the reason for the great deception is that your unsaved auntie, uncle, granny etc., will tell you they are in heaven and all is well etc. but in actual fact...This is to make you believe that you dont need to believe in Jesus Christ at all, which is a lie.

Not for sure, but I would image Napoleon is in hell and who would want to communicate with him. The Bible warns against this kind of thing.

Real ones no longer exist. John Edwards is a fraud. He is letting people get false pretences and letting them think that he's a prophet.
