Well I have a friend who's bf lives on the other side of the Atlantic. Not only must they put up with seeing each other once or twice per year because of the difference, the time difference is a b*tch. And I have seen the effect it has had on them both, although they have been doing it for five months. I am of the opinion that it depends on the person, relationship and dedication because it takes work...tons of it... its heartwrenching but when you love someone you will make it work.

For a long distance relationship to work, the couple has to have a very strong attraction(both physical but more so emtional)other wise it can't last. there wouldn't be anything holding it together. Without the long term you at least have the sexual attraction to make up for the of lack of the intillectual one. but if you don't have that then you'll know if it's love or not.

No, it does not.......because when you really need someone, your buddy is not with you .....when you want to share your happiness and tears with someone, she or he is not with you........but some other person may be there at that time to become your strength and you will feel this person is more important than your distant friend. so slowly slowly distant relationship fades out.........as per my experience.........we want to live today and not tomorrow because tomorrow never comes.

Generally they do not. In say 10% cases they do work. Firstly there is the problem of distance and logistics. The culture, way of life, values are all different. If there is a break up it is hell of a problem to resettle.
