How should a girlfriend take this cool off request from her boyfriend?

He is simply requesting a time out, because he doesn't like it the way it's going, respect it or lose him.

maybe the man wants is not sure of what he's feeling towards the girl, or he's having too much problem from the relationship and he needs time to think about how to make the relationship into a better one. the girl just have to accept it. maybe it would better after some time. the girl should also need space to think about building up a better relationship. the girl should also ask the guy about the main reason behind the cool off so it would be clearer on how to resolve the problem.

well to me when i asked my girlfriend for some time , i was having second thoughts about the whole relationship i was thinking maybe i rushed things Little bit , she is a nice girl but am i ready ?,
and all sort of questions were crossing my mind so i asked for the cool off thinking that if we are meant to be together we would love each other even more after the cool off but if otherwise well you know we should go in separate ways

he probably said that because there is a problem in the relationship and he wants to find take a rest from it, it could also mean that he might be losing interest in the relationship.

Men aren't commitment-minded like women are. Maybe it scares them because they aren't made that way (to want to commit). I'm probably going to get slammed for this... but, it's MY PERSONAL belief that men (like a lot of animals) aren't naturally inclined to procreate with just one woman. If they DO stay monogamous, it's only out of respect for the law, their spiritual/religious beliefs, and for respect for their partner.... not because they WANT to.
