Personally I would agree, we're just giving the old fool precisely what he wants anyway (he does want death but by firing squad, not hanging).
I would prefer that they sentence him to life in Abu Gharaib or permanent confinement in a spider hole, anything that will make him beg for a death that will never come.
But in the final analysis, we do not have that power. Only those judges or the Iraqi people can really decide what to do with him (and for the most part they want him dead).

I am a believer in Christ and I I believe that while the ultimate judgment is up to God, people do have to "suffer" the consequences of their actions. You have to follow the laws of you will pay a price. If there was no consequence to breaking laws(namely killing innocent people in Saddam's case), how many more tyrants do You think there would be. How many times would someone be more likely to kill someone else if they knew the only thing that could happen to them is Life in prison. I have read article were people would go to states with out the death penalty to commit the crime of rape then murder, just because that particular state has no DEATH penalty.
Just something to chew on.

I agree, our lives do not belong to us in the first place, so how could we be depriving others from something that's not ours in the first place ? Yes Saddam was a criminal for sure (I say this as I live there myself), I don't think that anyone here will be FAIR enough to take such a decision. Let the bad ones stay away for good, but don't kill them. Christianity is not an eye for an eye religion IMO.

Christ once walked up on a stoning..the capital punishment of his day...he agreed that it was righteous and according to law...and then said let he without sin cast the first stone....What would Jesus do? Read your Bible and you will see exactly what Jesus did. He is the only one that is worthy to dispense that kind of justice as he is without sin yet he did not condemn the woman but told her to go her way and sin no more. We live under the grace provided by Jesus.

For one thing I'm very much Prolife in every situation. And for another I think death is the easy way out. Why kill him? Make him serve time in jail. Make him suffer. But don't kill him. That makes no sense whatsoever to me.

John 19:10-11
"10 "Do you refuse to speak to me?" Pilate said. "Don't you realize I have power either to free you or to crucify you?"
11 Jesus answered, "You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin." "
God gives men the power to take people's lives. Jesus acknowledged Pilate's right to rule in matters of life and death.
Romans 13:2-4
"2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. 4 For the one in authority is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God's servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer."
This says that rulers (the government) has a sword (capitol punishment) to use for God's will. Also, notice that the Bible also says in Romans 12:19 that vengeance is in the Lord's hands, and He will repay evil.
Capitol punishment is supported by the Bible.

In my system of belief, we believe that we are the only judgment that anyone will ever see. Therefore it is right to give him the death penalty only because there is nothing else for him.

Everybody around the world knew what this man had done to those people over there in Iraq, they knew people were looking for him and they when they found him he would go on trail. Now that he was found guilty what did they think was going to happen to him?! The way I see it, it ain't nobody's business but Iraq's what they do with this man, after what he has done to those people. If this was back in Hitler's day, do you think anybody would want that man to live if he ever went on trail, after what he did to people, I think not.
