Mock Christians if they sin. And then mock them if they are good kind hearted souls who help the needy and are possibly (in the eyes of the atheist) gullible, because they give without caring whether it is reciprocated or even appreciated.

Where is the logic in that?

If you criticize bad behavior, then you should applaud good behavior.

I was in houston during Katrina. You know who did the most work? The second baptist church! Those people worked tirelessly and without fanfare. They manned red cross shelters and held free banquets at the churches all over houston. As did the atheists and agnostics and many other groups. I applaud them all.

Why don't you?

its not just atheists that do this. if you look around everybody does it.
it's just the human nature to criticize other people to make themselves feel more supreme

Most atheists DO applaud good behavior. I'm afraid you must have misunderstood something. I have never seen an atheist mocking people for being good, kind hearted and helping the needy. What SOME atheists mock is how SOME religious people are gullible and believe and take literally anything their religion tells them, even things that make no sense or have been disproven. What they mock is how some people believe whatever they are told, just because they are told to. Some atheists just don't understand why people will rather have blind faith in what an old book or a priest says than accept scientific proofs when they are available.

There is a difference here. They don't mock people for doing good, they mock those who believe everything they are told by the church and who have no critical thought. Also, people who do good just to get brownie points from their god don't usually get as much respect as people who do good because they want to do good without caring whether some god will reward them. Personally I am against mocking though. Mocking serves no point other than to hurt people's feelings, which is in my opinion bad, no matter who does it to who.

As for your added comment "why don't you applaud them?". We do. It's just that it's usually bad stuff that gets most of the attention. If somebody helps somebody else it is appreciated, but rarely makes the news. On the other hand, if somebody does harm, it gets more attention. Maybe because people get concerned when bad stuff happens, because it's somewhat a threat, while good stuff doesn't scare people.

Why do the majority of Christians on here mock Atheists because we are enlightened enough not to have our lives governed by a discredited book.

EDIT

The baptist church held BANQUETS during the aftermath of Katrina - surely they would have been better off helping all, not just laying on lavish feasts for the few ............... I suggest you learn what BANQUET means before using it to try to prove Christians are better than the rest of us.

Because Christians are usually the ones who tell OTHERS not to sin. And then when they commit those same sins themselves, they naturally open themselves up to insults.

How else are people supposed to react when a man spends his entire public career condemning homosexuality, petitioning against gay marriage, and teaching people that homosexuality is immoral and improper... and then is caught engaging in a gay affair? That wouldn't be an issue at all, if it weren't for the fact that he spent his entire life telling other people that they can't do what he just did. Any sort of flack that guy would get in that situation is totally deserving.

I applaud good behavior...I just roll my eyes when people are only good because they think "GOD" will strike them dead if they aren't...I wish people could be good, kindhearted souls without threat of punishment.

I wish people wouldn't try to tell other people how to live and then live the opposite. I wish all people would be kind to others without some invisible friend telling them to be.

Just be nice because its in your heart to do so...period.

Look, I am an agnostic, and when we mock Christians, it's because, they set sail to become something a normal human being cant archive, nobody can be that good. So every time one of you slips, we'll laugh and say I told you so.
Good enough?

Atheists love to argue about religion, just to get a reaction. Christians are quick to defend. For me, I just get on with life, and leave em to it. I believe, and I live life the best way I can with His help, and thats all that matters.

Why do you mock atheists?

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
