The point of the Asia Times article is that China and Russia (w/ Iran's collusion) have been working for decades to defeat the US, darnit.

So...I take it this question is going beyond the subject of Iran. You seem very confident "one" blow could knock out or otherwise injure the US from China or Russia...lemme remind you, we have used nukes....Russia's got some that still work, China is too worried that what will happen if they got in our face( they cant take us my friend, thinking they can is folly). Yes our Navy is powerful, also dont forget one of the most powerful people in the world is a captain on a nuclear sub. All a war is to them, is a simple seqence of numbers.
Iran being cocky, let em. They are insignificant weasels and need a good humbling war to break them down again...like most of the countries over there.
The US at least, has many forms of defence even at home...lol, look how many gangs and thugs have guns on our streets.
Iran needs a good war against Israel I think.

It seems to me that a war is being set up and has been for a while. Iran has rightly looked on in alarm as it's surrounding countries have been forcefully Americanised.

Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan (by force or threat), Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia (blackmail, aid and oil investment).

Iranian ********* is primarily caused by the fact that any provocation it causes get returned by America, and that boosts political support at home.

The Iranian government system is not tyrannical but it is unfair; but at the moment it enjoys its first genuine legitimacy for a while as the nation rallies under threat from the US, and its feeling of entitlement to nuclear technology.

About what Russia or China could do to stop oil supplies, what makes you think that either Russia or China would want to risk war with the USA?

at the present moment America and the allies are tied down in Iraq and Afghanistan. also they have lost a lot of credibility with there intelligence since not finding any weapons in Iraq. Iran knows that America ain't in the position to invade the country or to launch any Major military attack against the country. they know if they can develop there nuclear weapons quick enough, America will back off.
