It takes months and months of hard work, and hard evidence and misery for a lot of people (ie neighbours) before an ASBO is issued against someone. Those that say they were given one for no reason are lying. The Police don't go easy on someone because that person is a friend of a serving officer. We deal with cold hard evidence. If you get one, you deserve it. What you might think is reasonable, may not be for the rest of the community you live in.

The problem with ASBOs is that when innocent people get it it hurts them, when real bstards get it then its a credit to them, something to show off with. It clearly doesn't work. Nonsence neighbours can be really bad though. I once had a neighbour who lived above my flat and was complaining to the authorities that they can hear my footsteps all the time and it's annoying. I mean if I was complaining about their footsteps I would understand but I was living BELOW their flat (they didn't have a flat above theirs).

If they have reported you to the authorities if or when they move, by law they will have tell the people that are looking to buy their house that they have had a problem with a neighbour, so hopefully this will come back to bite them on the bum whenever they decide to move, but its not very fair on you though if you haven't done anything. Why cant people just come talk to you and sort it out, i hate all that curtain twitching and gossipping behind your back.

My 11 year old and his 9 year old brother were reported to the police as "youths with firearms" when they were playing with their toy guns. They could have been shot.
Luckily the police went ape and gave the complainants a warning for wasting police time.
I always thought"there's no smoke without fire" until it happened to me. It's unbelieavable when someone has it in for you.
FYI - I and my family do don't drugs, have loud parties, play loud music, are polite and respectful. We don't have dogs that bark, mug people, live in squats. We dont' have criminals records. In fact, we're quite religious and do our best to be a credit to the community.

It isn't quite as easy as that, to get an ASBO you normally need real evidence, not just "I think he's annoying" e.t.c.
Saying that, it's always good fun to ring up crimestoppers and say your neighbour is a drug dealer...lol.

I did.
The police believed them because they are friendly with a serving police officer.
I'm 60 years old and now have a criminal record!
For your own sake be careful. You will be honest but they will lie and doubtless be very convincing.
ASBOs are evil and designed for the police to lock up people, on hearsay, for matters which in themselves are not crimes.
DO NOT TRUST THE POLICE. I DID.
MOVE HOUSE AT ONCE!
