I now only give him dry food, I want to change to a better brand and a more yummie food for my puppy, he is tired of the same, I've been feeding him this food, (beneful) for about 2 to 3 months, which is the best food all in all for pups?

By the way, do we have to give the pup purified water? I know a lot of people don't

I've never thought food is love & have not changed my pup's food, because I know it is a process, I also know canned food is very bad. I happen to have a very obedient puppy, everyone loves him, he is not rotten, nor fat. I take very good care of him, so take your bitterness somewhere else git em

safest for puppy tummies is to do a gradual mixing of the new food into the old food over the course of maybe two weeks. it gives the belly a little memo, you know. start with just mixing a little in, then gradually more in until you have made a complete switch (pup will never know the difference). also, allows you to observe if there are any changes in appetite or upset tummies occurring possibly due to the new food.

Changing the food over slowly is the best way to go. Dogs can get an upset stomach when food is changed to fast.
I've not heard anything too good about Beneful. When choosing a new food , read the ingredients. The first or second should be meat, not corn, and not meat by products.

It's easy to upset a dog's digestive system but don't worry, eventually your dog will adapt to the new food.

Suggestion: Feed your pets the best quality dry food you can obtain. There is no such thing as "cheap" pet food. What you save on price, you'll more than make up for in vet bills and heartache. Under no conditions whatever should you feed your dog "Old Roy" from Wal-Mart. Absolute crap.

We feed ours Nutro-Max but Iams, Eukanuba, and Hill's Science Diet are all excellent and I'm sure your vet or local pet store can recommend others. Get the good stuff.

Spring S is right about mixing the dog's new food with it's old food. The reason you do this is so that you don't upset your dog's stomach. If you don't ween dog's on their new food they will get the runs. Just a word of advice...I use to feed my dog Iams and I found that he pooped a lot and then I switched him to food that I got from my Vet. and I find he only goes poop about twice a day. Which is better than 3-4. Different dog foods give different effects on your dog. And about water for your dog. Just give him tap water. They get use to the water just like there food and WHY spend a fortune on purified water for your dog. He'll be just fine drinking water from the tap.

When we first bought our puppy, she was eating Iams. She didn't like it too well, so we switched it to Eagle Pack puppy. She loves it. Recently we switched her to Eagle PAck hollistic cuz when a dog reaches 6 months, you can switch them to adult food. She loves the hollistic. The hollistic food is all natural and is really good for them. It is expensive, but well worth it. You can buy it a pet stores that sell premium dog food.
