Why are manhole covers round? There is a very logical reason for this, that makes good sence. the first one with the right answer gets the ten points.

Yes Michelle you got it. Almost any other shape there is the risk of the cover falling into the hole. but now with round. Good going Ten points to ya.

so that the manhole cover won't fall into the manhole. if it was square, then it could fall into the hole when placed diagonally. same goes for any other shape.

Just a guess:
Man holes are exposed to all climatic conditions including freezing. When it is round, u can turn it around to break the frost between the cover and the edges and then pull it up to open. U can't do that with any other shapes and it will be very hard to open a man hole which is stuck with ice as the cover is generally very heavy.

First of all they are easy to move by just rolling them and round because their name is manHOLE cover. Holes are round. ??
