I have a painting done in pastels. What do I do to keep it from dusting off?

Go to your local art supply store, and pick up a can of "Winsor & Newton Spray Varnish". Check the link for more details and pictures of the product. Curry's was the art store I went to when I was attending art school.

a fixative spray should do the job, you can buy it at any art shop. You just spray it over the entire painting and it doesn't stain after drying. When its dry you can dust it off without smudging the painting

Hair spray works great. (Aqua net... something you can use to get a nice even spray.)
If you want something that will preserve your work longer there are different fixatives you can get at any art store. There are gloss and matte finishes, different varnishes.
Good luck with your work.

Idk about the pastel part, but I know that after an oil painting has been completed for a year, you put a coat of varnish on it.
