Virginity was important once upon a time when there were no protection from getting kids after sex. Hence all the religions and all the cultures advocated virginity to prevent the birth of unwanted children. Today the science has changed everything and people could safely have sex and still not get children and therefore virginity has more or less lost its relevance. However one thing should not be missed by us that in olden days due to the virginity there were early marriages and this resulted in the family culture which brought peace of mind and stability to the people. Nowadays due to advancement of science we see many a relationships before the actual marriage which may take place sometime after 40 years of age and since there are no elders to look after the children they are put into child care centres and this results in children losing the love for parents and also divorce rates have increased because of late marriage and there is not peace of mind to most of the couples.

Yes, it is really important to a girl. Giving it away to the wrong person, or in the wrong situation is a memory she will have forever.

To some it is because, it means they feel untainted and if you mean that it is important for a guy to "be a virgin," then that puts us at ease because we at least know that he hasn't been going around places, like a horny toad!
