It's a pretty old joke. At the old spaghetti factory (Sydney, circa 1972) they had all these pictures of the spaghetti crops and all the proud old Italian peasants going about their business. These pictures looked like they had been shot in the 30s, but they could have been faked. If something hokey is reported on April 1, then it's probably hokey.

I remember that joke! I remember some classmates of mine (4th grade) mentioning what a waste it was, all that rotting spaghetti. I told them that I didn't think spaghetti grew on trees but they rebuffed me saying that it was on the news and where else was it supposed to come from?

funny LOL, i remember several years ago my local newspaper had a headline in the sports section about a teenage wonder who could pitch a baseball over 115 mph... etc... long article...ended with april fools, but many didn't read to the end!
