I am having such a hard time motivating myself lately, I feel like I can't get anything done or be very productive with my day-to-day life. I also work nights and I feel like it's thowing me out of whack. (Don't say switch to days, I can't right now.) Any suggestions/constructive thoughts?

I worked nights for 3 years and I learned that it was best to just live life that way. Make sure you have a "normal" routine just like you would working days. And keep that routine on your days off if at all possible. That is what I eventually had to start doing because it's too hard trying to get your body & mind adjusted to a 1st shift schedule for just a couple days a week. You are probably just not a 3rd shift person and it's really affecting you emotionally. I understand what you're saying about not being able to switch to days right now. Just work on a routine & make the best you can of it until you can get back on a day shift.

Depending upon how long you have been feeling unmotivated, I would say to 1st look at your food intake...make sure you're eating lots of nutritious foods; secondly, exercise...even if it's walking your block a few times every other day; and third, make sure you spend some quiet time in a chair or on the floor (for about 15 minutes) before lying down in your bed to go to sleep.

You are already motivated if you are working and thinking about your future. I assume you think you are stuck in a life controlled by routine? First step is to do what you are doing.... naming a dissatisfaction with your life. But don't leave it there! Goal setting is the method to use. Keep the goals small, achievable and purposeful. Change something about YOU, and it will have an impact on other areas of your life. For me, learning something new creates motivation to grow in other areas of my life.
Good luck.

Day to day life? What day life? You work nights , so you're probably more motivated at night than you are during the day.
