Actually, lightening will alter the state of your hair as the cuticle is opened, and chemicals (dye molecules) deposited into the cortex and the cuticle contracted again to lock the color. If you go darker.... you may use a 10 volume or semi or demi perm to get a change, in which case, the hair will feel silkier, as these do not penetrate the cuticle or alter the cortex. Only deposit on the cuticle. many clients come in just for a "glaze" adding depth or tones to the hair without lightening for the shine and smooth feel of the hair. Hope this helps

Hair doesn't spoil... Spoiling occurs after experation. (like milk) Your hair won't expire it's already dead. Coloring your hair can dry your hair out but not unless it's colored too much... Haircolors have conditioners in them now that help protect your hair. ( its not like it used to be) as long as you touch it up at the roots when it grows out (instead of all over) then pull the rest through the last 5 minutes you should be fine.

Dying refers to death.

Dyeing refers to changing the color of hair.

Anything you do to your hair has the potential of "spoiling" it. If you get your hair professionally colored, and if you take proper care of it, your hair should be fine. However, if you have a bad dye job -- either from chemicals that are too harsh or are not the right color -- your hair could be "spoiled."

it will not spoil your hair but it will damage your hair the more you do it. i dyed my hair for the first time and it still is super soft and healthy. i am even able to use the flat iron on it without any damaging. also to prevent the possible outcome of damage, once a week i keep my conditioner in my hair for about 10 minutes to ensure silky shiny hair. =)

Not necessarily. After you dye your hair let it dry, then wet it, and add conditioner. (any will do, but go to a beauty supply store they have the best), throw a towel in the dryer until it is hot and put your hair up in it. Leave it in for like 20 mins. I do this like every other day after I dye my hair until it feels normal after washing. My hair doesn't seem unhealthy. Good luck! (btw, it's just hair, it will grow back healthy!)

Jeezzz how many mislead people, Well the answer is simple first and foremost it would depend on who does it for you... and the right terminology would be color you hair,,,,,,,, for the most part the answer would be NO. like I said It would depend on your hair @ first (what your working with first), what your going to do 2nd, and who's doing it last but not least. Try a professional if your worried. go for it!!

Two of my daughters like to dye their hair. But when all three are together, the one who has never dyed her hair has a more luxurious and transparent shine to her hair.

If it's just to cover gray, try hi-lighting.
