Since pre-history, human beings have had the need and desire to understand the world around them. The most efficient way to do so was to adopt myth into their daily lives. These myths speak the archetypal language of the psyche/soul, and, as such, transcend language and culture. The same figures, the same stories, the same message can be found in the mythology of all religions.

There are some wonderful books on the subject by comparitive mythologist Joseph Campbell.

There is no need for confusion. I would suggest that you believe the way you are most comfortable believing, the way that brings the most meaning into your life. That is the reason for faith and religion.

Similar ideals, sure. But where the practices differ there are gigantic chasms.

No other man who ever walked the earth claimed to be able to forgive people's sins and have it stand with God the Father except for Jesus Christ. No other man who ever walked the earth ever claimed that the only way to God the Father was through him and had so many followers who believed him to be absolutely telling the truth.

So, while Christians--along with Buddhists, Hindus, Jews, Muslims, et al.--claim to value love, tolerance, patience, humility, and the like, no other people but Christians claim to have met God and had supper with him and have had so very many people take it as fact.

And it is this gigantic thing that sets Christianity apart from the rest.

I have noticed that. I think that being able to look at beliefs "generically" or in a value-based way might help people overcome some prejudices. Or make some prejudices a lot worse, depending on the values. I like to ask whether a person's beliefs are about love and whether their way of thinking is friendly to life. If it doesn't help you live in the world as a human, I get kind of skeptical about its value.

Not all religions. Because the type of Muslims that Bin Laden and his followers are, they believe that if they kill people, somehow that makes them a hero and they will eventually when they die(from suicide) life will be better for them. I have never read any thing remotely similar to that in the Word of God.
P.S. I know that no all Muslims have that belief. So if I offended any(that are not like BinLaden), I offer my deepest apology,

ALL religions stemmed from the need to find an answer (even if mistaken) to the same questions: life and death, what's after that, how did the universe come into existence and so on. And I guess human imagination must not have been too good, if we all came to so similar answers.

To notice this would mean you need to gloss over all the fundamental differences between religions. That won't do. You have to treat each religion with integrity and examine their truth claims.
