Well im my opinion, i believe that if you have been diagnosed.. you should seek help with in your doctors and psychologists in order to be treated of course. It is important also to have the support of friends and family to count on. Also it would be helpful if you or those ppl who are supporting you to do research about what can be done about the disorder.. ex: if there are any advances on how to treat it.. or the best places to get treated at. It is important to always keep a positive attitude towards things like these.. and never give up! Hope i answered your question.

Find a good therapist, first and foremost. Don't go for medication until at least consulting a therapist. Don't focus so much on being mentally ill. Focus on getting better, because believe me you're not going to get better unless you work your butt of at it. It's hard work but recovery or at least relief is possible.

Once you find the right therapist and right kind of therapy it will work wonders for you. But again you have to have the want to get better attitude. Don't expect doctors or pills to make you feel better. You've got to solve your own issues.

Personally, I was diagnosed with bipolar nearly 2 years ago , I am still in denial. It is bloody awful. I use to have control over my life , now I do not. How do I cope, I take one minute at a time. I could go off my stack at any given time.

As I remember, my response was "well that sucks!" But it is kind of nice to know what is wrong so it can be treated. Being mentally ill is not something you should be ashamed about, though many people do. In my situation it was worse not knowing what was wrong because I didn't know what to do. Diagnosis can be a wonderful thing. You get treatment (hopefully) and get on with your life.

Know that you are not alone and you you will be ok. Now that you have figured out the problem, with the help of a therapist, psychologist or psychiatrist, as well as friends and family, you can get help and treatment. So many people wander out into the world and feel so alone because they know what they feel, but don't know what it is. Be glad your illness was detected and you can get help. :)

You're in my prayers.

The same way you would deal with any disease, go to the right Doctors, and follow his directions-take the meds that are prescribed. Mental Illness is just as valid as Heart Disease, it's nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed of.
