He is normal. They get over it as they grow old. But it is good to have energy and run around, especially for an indoor cat, because they need the exercise an activity. Neutering also diminishes that.

I think that he may, in ten or more years, outgrow it...
BUT there are things that you can do about that right now - have play sessions with him (not just pet or groom sessions :) ) regularly (at _least_ once a day, 20 or 30 minutes long). After a while, he'll learn that those play sessions are the times for activity, and will be pretty calm at other times.
I think it's best if you start with at least two sessions, 20 mins each, from what you've written.
From what I've read, the best tool for those sessions is a fishing-pole-like toy. For me, a shoe lace or a toy mouse is enough - dragging on the floor, dangling around, throwing for him to chase and fetch... imagination is best. But you have to be there for him :)

cats have personallities, just as people do, your cat may always be "crazy" all his life, when he gets much older, he will calm down some, because he doesnt have the energy that he has now, but will still do crazy things. i had a cat that used to pick up dirty socks and put them in a line in the living room floor at night time, animals are funny and great friends

Yes he should grow out of it we have two cats and one's around his age and the other is around 8. The young one is just like yours the way to minimize it is have play sessions and also our old cat is pretty lazy although have a hyper cat can get annoying it can be fun good luck.

Yes, he will grow out of it, eventually. The sad thing is that you'll miss it when he does, so try to enjoy it now. Someday, he'll be a n "old man" cat.

To rule out anything physical, get your cat checked out at the vet. It could be a type of fitting, he could get a bite from a flea, or something like that to cause him to go nutto.
Good luck
