I don't think you can debate religions. I think it's too internal and intimate to debate it. What IS debatable is the way religions influence on entire societies, even on those people who have made the legal choice not to follow a religion.

Always always always. If for no other reason, I find it fun; then again, I love finding out about what other people believe and why.
I don't think it's only debatable through the religion/belief you follow. On this site alone, I have at various times both supported and criticized any belief (or lack thereof) that I'm informed enough about to do so. I'm a fact person, largely, which is where a lot of that comes from...I suppose it's because MY belief is that every path is both equally true and equally false. (Yeah, sorry if I sprained anyone's brain with that one...)

Yes, it's debatable - through your knowledge of the dogma associated with the said religion. Debatable doesn't necessarily mean convincing. If you're discussing religion and attempting to convert or convince someone that either a) you are right or b) they are wrong, then you're not debating - it's beliefs you're discussing. Debating is really discussing the merits of any two points of view substantiated with fact or perceived fact.
Really, if you come down to it, debating religion is really just the heart of any comparative religion class or theology teaching - it's about discussing the merits and detriments of each.
In the end, what you believe is what you believe. You can't debate religion with yourself - you believe what you believe. You can change your mind... :-)
Namaste!

Depends. 'Religion' doesn't nessessarily equal 'belief'. Many people are involved in 'religions' or religious type practice that they don't believe in.
Religion could be described as the framework and set of principles that groups of beleivers or followers chose as their label.
Perhaps discussing peoples 'spiritual beliefs' rather than proposing a 'religious debate' may yeild better outcomes (depending on your agenda!).

Relgious beliefs are HIGHLY debateable!
many people go to their own scriptures and find debateable beliefs and ambiguous teachings.
it does not matter what religion or denomination or sect you belong to there will always be something thta someone will disagree with.
true discipleship is the ability and willingness to change one's personal beliefs to more correctly allign with the truth of the universal gospel of the kingdom of God.

It is philosophy, so any attempt to debate it usually devovles into passionate arguments, not based upon reason, but passions.
There is no right or wrong in philosophy or good or bad, necessarily.
