A true follower of Christ does not hate anyone for any reason. To love our neighbor is to praise them for their obedience to God and tell them when they are falling away from God. It's like when a parent tells his 3 children that lying is wrong. Then one child lies and instead of the other 2 keeping his lie a secret or going along with his lie, they tell him that his lie is wrong and that dad will punish him when he finds out. They tell the child that it's best if he goes to dad and tells him the truth. Dad will judge the situation and serve justice to the child. God is our Father and when we see one of His children (creation) sinning, we are to tell him that he is sinning and tell him that he should go to God and ask for forgiveness and reconcile with God. God will judge him (He is the only one Who can) and He will see that justice is served.

Sadly, I see (in the media) some Christians that are hypocrits and I hurts to see these people, preachers or lay persons, say one thing and do anyother. They are leading the flock in the wrong direction and/or turning their backs to the flock and pleasing themselves. I am Catholic and the whole issue of some priests molesting altar boys has angered me and confused me about the Church. After a long time in pray to God, I realize that it's God that I worship and believe in. I will never turn my back to God even though some church leaders have.

You question should be asked directly to the people that call themselves Christians and act otherwise. Being a church leader, I think they owe their church an explanation and an apology but only if they really mean to apologize. Sometimes people apologize but only because they were caught, yet they continue to live the same way.

They have an escape clause in the phrase "hate the sin and love the sinner". So it's okay for them to denounce an entire percentage of the human population as being horrible, evil creatures while still claiming to be compassionate and loving.

As for the fellow who compared homosexuality with a mugging: Tell me sir...who is the mugee? Outside of the "ick" factor that most heterosexuals react with, in what way is someone who is homosexual harming you? Or anyone?

And don't bother with the homosexual-pedophile nonsense. The two have little if anything to do with one another.

I have yet to encounter a gay person who woke up one morning and decided "I think I'll start liking my own gender!" Or "sex with my own gender is so much better than hetero sex that I'm willing to face the ostracism and scorn for it!" They are who they are, and neither shaming nor "reprogramming" are going to change them any more than you can turn a white man black (or vise-versa).

Christians have always had a problem with sex. You can make war, but not sex. They are really kinky about this subject, just ask Ted Haggart or Jimmy Swaggert, or Jim Baker. The more they are against it, the more kinky pleasure they get in doing it on the sly. It goes back to the Puritan Ethic which suggested that if it gives you pleasure, it must be a sin.

True Christians don't hate gay people or anyone else. Nor does God hate gay people. According to the bible, the word of God, homosexuality is wrong...it is a sin in the eyes of God. That, however, does not mean that God hates sinners...only sin. It seems to be a hard concept for a lot of people to grasp. To separate the sinner from the sinful act.

there is something that I do not understand about Christians, if someone is attracted by someone else of the same sex is it really a choice? they do not act upon it but they are still attracted just by a person of the same sex. I had a friend who was Christian and had to abandon his church because obviously He could not force himself to be attracted to women.
Christians think that is a choice, but how can it be a choice to be sexually attracted to someone of your same sex or someone to the opposite sex?I am glad I am NOT attracted by someone of my same sex, I was born this way, but for those who are who are we to be judging ?

Its all about judgement.

He who is without sin, cast the first stone.

Show me someone who can cast the first stone?

Blessings be yours in light and peace

Show that other people commit sexual immorallity(find examples) and say God loves you no matter what you've done. Try to prove God's love is unconditional basically.

I don't hate gays. I have a few friends that are gay. I can still be their friends/show love to them w/o agreeing with their sin. They understand where I am coming from, and don't think I am showing hatred towards them.
