2 great nieces and nephew was sent to my Nov. 16, 2005 because their father is in prison and mother is a drug addict with numerous other problems. Public Aid gives $202 cash and no food allowance. I have tried to get additional help to no avail. Does anyone know where I can get additional help, especially doing the holidays. Help, please

Find where the food pantrys are and go to your local church and talk with the pastor.
Go back to Social Services and demand help.

Yes, there r places that can help u, try ur local Catholic Family Charities or other church organizations. If u choose to get temporary custody of the children it is best and to their and ur advantage to do so, go to the nearest State Welfare Dept.'s Children and Family Services Division, these children need a stable environment and if u r willing to provide that for them the state will help u with more for the children because they will then be wards of the state under ur protection and guidance and they will be obligated to support them with more financial help, food stamps, clothing, Medical and any other special need they might have like counseling etc. It's hard but u need to do what u have to do for their sake. God Bless.

Try the Salvation Army. They usually have food hampers to help out families when they are in need, They also usually have a secret Santa program of some sort to help out with presents for families.
You could also try the churches. If food is you primary concern right now make use of you local food bank.

Where are you located? You should try calling your local social services office. See if you can't get info from he foster parents network. You may be able to become their foster parents and get 1200 per child per month. God knows your heart and he will bless you. Just acknowledge the fact that he is using you for good in these girls lives. Good luck to you all! Oh, try for food stamps at Social Services as well. Call local churches, someone will help you. Just have faith!

You might want to check out Salvation Army and Food stamps like the PP said. Also, call 211 from a landline and it will connect you to United Way. They can refer you to local places that will help with food and bills

If your income is modest enough it would seem that adding people to your household may make you eligible for food stamps.

Depending on their age and legal status (such as whether they are in the custody of the state), there is also the chance they could apply for something like food stamps as a "household of one".
