Rh incompatability is a condition that mostly occurs in the setting of a pregnant woman who has Rh NEGATIVE blood group.

If she is carrying a foetus that is Rh POSITIVE, it is possible that when some foetal blood enters her circulation (usually any time there is vaginal bleeding there is a possibility of placental bleeding and the possibility that foetal cells enter the mother) she can detect them as foreign cells and develop antibodies against them.

These antibodies can cross the placenta and then can affect the baby's blood (causes the blood cells to pop - haemolysis).

The treatment for this is to give the mother a dose of these antibodies as soon as there is a chance of foetal blood cells entering the mother's circulation (within 72hrs of this).

try the web MD or call your doctor. It happens when you and the father of the baby do not have compatible blood types. Sometime the baby just has to go under Bili lights and some times they need a blood transfusion. You will also need a shot within 48 hours(I think not sure about the time). My son and I had this problem and I did not know as his father left when i was 3 months along. Good Luck I forgot 30 years ago when I had my son they said without the shot it could effect future preg.
