If you felt happy and peaceful, it was from God.
If it was sudden laughter and it felt weird as you say, it was not. Could have been demonic, could have been pathological as the first answerer pointed out.

No, it was not weird. There are three main answers I can give you for this 'laughter'.

1) This may be a psychological issue and you may need to consult a psychologist for more information. It may be a mental illness, a problem with your biochemistry etc. It may even indicate schizophrenia. Psychologists and psychotherapists will give you more information though.

2) It could be demonic. Demons sometimes laugh through people, I don't know exactly why but this is a possibility and you may need to examine your faith if you are a Christian.

3) It could be Holy Laughter. It may be the Holy Spirit laughing through you and manifesting himself inside you, this is a great sign.

I am assuming it is number 3, the Holy Spirit, and I hope that you follow it up and build your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.

God Bless You!

Such spontaneous, unexplained laughter is often referred to in psychology as hebephrenia. It s a form of schizophrenia, marked by hallucinations and extremely disorganized thinking and speech.
