My hair is naturally black but I dyed it jet black. I want red highlights .?

I know it's hard to put color on hair that is dyed black. What is the best way to remove color without damaging my hair? Any good products I can buy?

Black hair color isn't going to lift unless you use Hair bleach or color remover. Hair bleach can remove the black but it has to be applied to the mid- strand first, then roots, then ends. This is something to be REALLY careful with because black hair color that gets bleached can damage your hair & tends to turn orange or brassy. Unfortunately color remover can only be bought from a licensed professional. My suggestion ( since your hair is colored black) go & see a professional. It's too complicated to do yourself. Besides, licensed professionals are trained to take care of such disasters. Don't mess with it yourself.

If I were you, I would just leave it alone for now. There are highlights you can do yourself that can be bought at beauty supply stores. Are you wanting to remove the black color or get highlights? The more stuff you do to your hair, the worse condition it will be in. If you over process your hair, it can peel. That means when you grab strands, some of them will just get mushy and fall out. Be careful. Go to the beauty supply store or go to a salon if you really can't stand just leaving it alone!

L'oreal makes a haircolor for dark hair. And it comes in different shades of red and pink. I think its called L'oreal for dark hair only. You use a 30-40 volume peroxide and it lifts and deposits the color. Works great on black hair. I use it on my dark brown hair and I also color my hair and it lifts the color and deposits the pink no problem. You can buy it at Sallys Beauty Supply, if you have one in your area.
