"Dark" or "Black" Magick Reference Guides for an Interested Student.?

Question

Reading a great deal about the Occult and Magick in the Pre and Modern terms has me wondering -- if so many are able to use a natural power for harm there must be some reference on what this "black" power is and how to use it. I'm curious to know of any books, or other resources anyone may know on this topic. My reasoning? Simple: how better to protect yourself from a power then know how to use it yourself (it's much like network security -- you need to know how to be a hacker before you can know how to protect from hackers). Thanks for all help.

The Book of Black Magic by A.E. Waite is a very nice compilation of a number of old grimoires, along with Waite's upper-crust turn-of-the-century British commentary. (Hee.) Richard Cavendish's The Black Arts is a rather crazy little tour through a bunch of different traditions--more interesting than educational, but a good look at practices up to modern day (the book was published in 1967, I think).

ETA: If you're looking for more "practical" guides, I'd recommend Frater UD's High Magic, Israel Regardie's The Tree of Life, and for some fun, Phil Hine's Condensed Chaos.

grab yourself the new Final Fantasy and you'll see what magick is all about. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is pretty sweet too, that is of course if you're on a lower budget.

Magick is all in the intent. there is not light and dark rituals. each ritual is designed by the caster for a specific reason, if your reason is to protect yourself then most consider it a white magick. if it is to do harm to another then it is usually called dark of black magick.

you do not need to know these arts to defend yourself. you only need to know how to defend yourself within your own religious base.

You can protect yourself one way, through Jesus Christ. Beware of the deception your getting yourself into. I know many who were destroyed and messed up completely by magick only to be later saved by Jesus Christ. He died for you so you could have access to God!


Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!
