We have the technology, don't we? It doesn't have to be as fancy as that bald guy in Jurassic Park 2 where it takes 5 years to reload! Don't we want people to live?

it would be very wonderful, in a PERFECT world. the problem is we dont live in a perfect world, and the bad guys wont use them. if the bad guys wont play along and use them, then the good guys cant use them, because their lives will be in much more danger. what I means is, if the bad guys KNOW they arent going to die in a shootout, then they will take more chances at trying to kill the good guys, so what happens is the good guys die and the bad guys go to sleep for a few hours.

P.S. i could care less if the bad guys die. less bad guys is a good thing.

The answer to your question is yes there will be such a weapon IF there is a demand for such a weapon. Engineering does not live in a vacuum. Engineers.....manufacturers......only supply what people demand. The cold hard brutal facts are Automatic Tranquilizer Shooters were developed by the Germans during WWII and the only thing that kept it from the field was the fact the Allies destroyed the industrial plants.

Almost all of the German (and Japanese) technology was eventually developed into useful products where there was an economic demand for them. Since there has been to date no economic demand for non lethal weapons they have not been developed.

The notable exception has been the taser but even production of that weapon has been limited to only one manufacturer because the market for it has been very limited.

Do I have to point out that some folks do not want others to live?

You are absolutely right; we do have the technology, however the cost of replacing the existing weapons and ammunition to replace it with tranqiulizers would run into hundreds of billions of dollars.

Also unfortunately the bad guys will always use lethal weapons which means that the good guys are forced to defend the innocent.

Maybe we will see something like that in years to come but prob not in our lifetime

Hope this helps

The wonderful world of guns will not stop making lethal weapons.
Instead, the wonderful world of guns will continue to make more and more efficient guns so that they will be more and more lethal.
Non lethal weapons certainly have their benefits, but lethal weapons won't go away.

Ever hear of air pistols? Reloading isn't an issue in RL, only in the movies. But then, cars don't start reliably in the movies, either. They ALWAYS flood out when the Bad Guy is about to capture the Damsel in Distress.

How about just getting a surround sound projector to display huge crowds on the walls of your bedroom all saluting and screaming their adoration. You should ask the advice of Tyler Durden regarding equipment and I'm sure he can lend you some tapes. You may even want to follow his example and have a mock balcony complete with podium installed in your room.

these are already available. they work on a similar principle to a paintball gun however they are not suitable to be used in hostage situations etc. as the effects of the tranquiliser take too long to work and the offender can still either kill with his/her weapon or completely override the effects of the tranquiliser especially in cases where drugs such as pcp, cocaine or amphetamines have been used. thus the tranquiliser while being good in principle is not so good in practise. however there are such things as tazers and beanbag guns which can be used to imobilise without causeing serious harm .

Sometimes using lethal force is the only way to stop a crime from happening.
For true stories from newspapers around the U.S. about ordinary citizens using the very guns you're afraid of to stop a criminal from killing or committing serious harm to themselves or others, please visit this site:
www.nraila.org.
Use the search window to look up "The armed citizen". It'll give you a better perspective about the use of lethal force to protect oneself.

Uhh... whats the point of war if no one dies? No one will ever get the point if they just have to take a nap. Why don't we fight wars with paintball guns then? Or maybe play lazer tag or halo?
