Let him down easy, but firmly.
Tell him that his flirting makes you really uncomfortable and that if he enjoys being around you, he needs to drop the remarks and be a friend.
(Guys sometimes just want to be friends, too, but they don't know how to do it. They think being clever and flirty is what girls like. This guy needs to be reassured that he doesn't have to do that to be liked by you.)

Talk to him about a guy you like (even make one up). That drives them away most of the time. Just remember, don't flirt back!

You might want to try to make a joke out of it, or even try talking about some other guy that you like. Give hiom the impression that you only want him as a friend.

You don't want to hurt his feelings since he's your friend, so start talking about the guys you are interested in while youre hanging out with him. Its always good to be honest with people, but you dont want to risk your friendship by saying something rude to him.

If he fancys you then you can't stop him! Just use it to your advantage - have him flirt with you in front of guys you're interested in to make them jelous and you look wanted!
Good luck!

i"m in the same situation. Tell him you don't want to be seen as a potential partner, you just want his friendship.
