There is actually a very interesting, very current, and very relevant article on that here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15566654/site/newsweek/ Worth a look for everyone. Flip through the articles in the "Cover" box for more, but that one is a pretty direct relation to this question.

Theu should vote like anyone else, and express their feelings around them but they should not publish their political convictions, especially not in a way that people might equate their politics with their religious beliefs.
When we encourage them to get involved in politics, we are just asking for what has just happened.
On the other hand I believe it is quite alright for an evangelist or pastor to speak out about what he believes is wrong, whether it be abortion, or gay marriage, or throwing refugees out of the country, or opressing the poor.... Unfortunately too many Christians have been picking and choosing their moral issues, making a certain political party very happy. So yes, we can have a "prophetic ministry" like John the Baptist, but that does not involve becoming directly involved in politics.
On the other hand I encourage evangelical Christians to get involved in politics if they are interested in that. My hope is they will be involved in all parties on the left and right. There is a difference between a believer being involved, and someone with a public ministry being involved.

this subject is of a double edged sword category. In america we are given the right and the responsibility to be involved in politics.
But there is ONE verse in the bible that pertains to "servants" of god that says stay out of politics. And though jesus said do not resist anyone who preaches the word of the god or one like a minister or evangelist. It would be many times better if Most christianity just stopped preaching altogether. Until the True Gospel and the true apostles are made manifest by the power of God.

Evangelists should stay out of politics. We are a free nation, not a Christian nation. No country can be both.

They should definitely get out of politics! This country was founded on seperation of church and state. But having said that, I need just a little more humiliation before they depart........it's just so damn amusing!!!

They absolutely should stay out of politics. Having religious leaders preaching politics is as bad as celebrities touting their political beliefs. (like I'm going to change my core political beliefs because I like the last movie they were in, really!) Leave the politics to the politicians.

Absolutely. I firmly believe in the seperation of church & state. Religion has no business in the legislating of laws and the process of government. It is not the business of government to tell me how I should conduct my life. Nor is it the business of any person. No one has the right to impose their religious morals on their neighbor without their neighbor's consent. I for one do NOT consent to have the right-wing, pseudo Christian morals, of a very vocal minority, shoved down my throat by my government.

If we do not get into the middle now, our Children have no tomorrow. We need them in the office,
