Here's my favourite recipe.
1. Get in the car.
2. Drive to local supermarket.
3. Choose from a selection.
4. Pay.
5. Go home and eat
There are many variations on this, some people might suggest going via a wine seller for example but the simple ones are usually the best.

This one is easy
6oz butter
6oz sugar
5oz flour
1oz cocoa
2 eggs
cream the butter and sugar together (mix together until the butter looks lighter in colour) add in the flour, cocoa and eggs and mix together well.
Poor into 2 sandwich tins and bake in the oven at 180c for about 18 mins (with no fan, if you oven is fan assisted cut the time by a couple of mins). Dont open the oven half way through cooking as that can make the cake drop. after 18 mins take the cake out of the oven and put a knife in the middle. If it comes out clean the cake is done, if not put in for a couple more mins.

Easiest home-made chocolate cake --- buy a couple of Tesco's own victoria sponge mixes (they're about 28p each), add 150ml water, 2 eggs, and three big spoons of drinking chocolate powder. Mix everything together. Split into 2 cake tins. Bake for 20 mins on 180.
Sandwich together with either double cream or chocolate fudge icing (which you can buy in a tub)
To make it really luxurious, buy a packet of easy-ice chocolate for the top. You melt it in the microwave for a minute, pour it over the top of the cake and it sets and tastes like real chocolate.

Chocolate Cake
(18 cm/7" round tin)
Ingredients
175g/6 oz. butter
175g/6 oz. soft brown sugar
3 eggs, lightly beaten
25g/1 oz. black treacle
25g/1 oz. quality dark chocolate, melted
25g/1 oz. ground almonds
1 oz. cocoa
150g/5 oz. self raising flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Method
Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the black treacle. Mix in the eggs, a little at a time.
Add the ground almonds.
Stir the melted chocolate into the mixture.
Sieve the flour with the cocoa and baking powder, and fold in to the mixture, making sure that the finished mix does not look at all streaky.
Divide the mixture between the two greased, lined sandwich tins.
Level the mixture in the tins, and put into preheated oven to bake.
Baking
AGA - 2 OVEN: Bake on bottom shelf of ROASTING OVEN (with cold shelf over) about 20-25 minutes
AGA - 4 OVEN: Bake on lowest shelf of BAKING OVEN about 20-25 minutes.
When baked, leave the cakes in their tins for about 5 minutes before turning them on to a wire rack to cool completely before filling and icing with chocolate buttercream.

easy as pie...
buy a cake mix...devils food...that's the best...buy a chocolate frosting can...get cute cupcake papers and let the kids help fill them...after u cook them let them help frost them and put candy on top...they will be so happy they will have their own cupcakes and no dishes just paper to throw away...easy clean up...WORKS FOR ME...
PS.
the holidays are coming you could use thanksgiving sprinkles on top and put toothpick turkeys on them...this will be festive and they will feel like they took part in the big day...:)
happy holidays...
pss..
you could also but some kind of Hershey miniature in the center of each cupcake while filling the cups, before baking. and this will give a extra surprise inside like snickers or heath or something...you get the picture...
MM...MMM...GOOOOOD.....
