I'd like to see how many of you have a real good solution to this instead of just yapping and insulting anyone you come across. All sides of course are welcome.

Oh and one more thing, please give a good defence of your suggestion and use rational and sensible ideas, no emotional bleeding-heart reasons or illogical and pointless references.

Deport deport deport. Fine the snot out of companies that hire them, deport the ones you catch, fence (both physical and virtual) the border, make it illegal to produce products in spanish (no I don't care if they can't read a can of Pringles, they shouldn't be eating them here anyways), stop teaching in spanish (not stop teaching spanish, stop teaching them that if they come here, we will hire teachers to teach them for free IN THEIR LANGUAGE!!!) foreclose homes owned by illegals, expand the LEGAL pathways for them to get here, offer citizenship after one standard tour of duty in the military (I think it's 4 years, but I could be wrong). I can guarantee that the military method would make great citizens out of them. Nothing better to make a better American than to put your life on the line to defend her.

And then in Mexico, support groups that would topple the corrupt government and set up a government that would be beneficial to its people. They don't need our help if they can get it themselves.

The INS estimated that there were over 10 million illegal aliens residing in the United States in January 2000. According to INS, 55% of this unauthorized immigrant population was from Mexico. However, the top 15 sending countries accounted for 89% of the total illegal alien population and included Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Colombia, Honduras, China, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Philippines, Brazil, Haiti, India, Peru, Korea, and Canada. This means that a significant number of illegal aliens entered the United States through other than the Mexico-US border and that they fall under the jurisdiction of the investigations section (interior enforcement), not the Border Patrol. These statistics further indicate that the illegal alien problem is both a border and an interior enforcement problem. More importantly, the interior problem seems to be far greater than the border problem. However, the INS never placed much emphasis on interior enforcement. As a matter of fact, there is very little interior enforcement of the immigration laws going on. Interior enforcement lags behind all other functions of the agency and the INS clearly prioritized the Border Patrol function.

This is a tough issue that will require a tough solution, First and foremost, STOP THE SPIN! political correctness be damned to hell! Vote today for the candidates who will actually create a workable solution to this problem. Allow local and state governments, law enforcement agencies to enforce federal immigration laws without being persecuted. They are already responsible for upholding federal laws and regulations. Secure our borders with the necessary military forces to END criminal activity. Notice I did not say equal amounts of forces. Root out the longstanding corruption within the governmental entities which are responsible for this nations interior security.
Get ruthless upon the human smuggling trade. Use the RICO act against any to whom it applies in regards to illegal immigration. Use the Constitution to America's advantage. Use the existing immigration laws to America's advantage. Enforce American laws to America's advantage.
Americans are ready for almost ANY solution. Whatever solution is implemented, WE THE PEOPLE must remain vigilant and keep our elected officials focused upon what is best for America. America is a nation of laws, lets use some of those laws to America's advantage instead of sitting back and watching a subversive ethnic group use our constitution and our laws to the advantage of a group of people who are not legally within the boundaries of this great nation. YAP.

Yes, build 2 parallel walls the entire length of the border with a road between for patrol vehicles. Each wall should be 15 feet high and have electrified razor wire on top of the mexican-facing wall. Every 3-5 feet a 25 foot steel anti-tunnel rod should be sunk into the earth, these rods should all have sensors and be wired into a central control center, when a sensor goes off, a demolition team should be dispatched to implode the tunnel. We will need about 20 more Coast Guard vessels permenantly stationed off of San Diego and the Texas Gulf coast to thwart boat crossings.

First of all, I'd like to know where dosmachetes got his statistics. They are beyond ridiculous, bordering on the absurd, and patently untrue.

1. Fine/imprison all employers of illegal aliens.
2. Cut off all federal and state benefits which illegals now receive. No free education, healthcare, food stamps, WIC, or any other type of benefit.
3. Revoke anchor baby citzenship. The 14th amendment was never intended to nor was it framed to give citizenship to the children of people in this country illegally.
4. Subtract the cost of the care and feeding of the over 30% federal prison population of illegal aliens incarcerated in this country, as well as reparations to their victims from their country of origin's aid package it receives from the U.S. When their prison term is finished, deport, deport, deport.

End the incentives to come to the U.S. and the problem will fix itself. Self-deportation will negate the need for the government to deport those in this country illegally.

1. All illegals caught crossing are to be placed in free labor camps until their estimated processing and deportation costs are paid. 2. The country of their origin is billed the exact same amount. 3. Any medical bills incurred by illegals are to be billed to their known employers. 4. Any existing illegals that are captured are sent to similar camps and an estimated work time to repay the estimated services they have received and lost taxes.
5. Children born here are not natural citizens and returned to their parents native country and the parents in camps are charged for their return. 6. If the illegal can pay cash, then they are not held in a work camp, but held in a holding cell and then deported after all costs and estimated taxes and information is returned. 7. Any caught employer is heavily fined, loss of business license and possible imprisonment. 8. Any real property whether real estate or vehicles are taken and sold at auction to the general public for repayment to the Fed. 9. Any car dealer found on the registration will loose it's business license if found upon investigation they knowingly sold to an illegal.
I would think after all learn of this, all of this will go away, sometimes you have to stand tall and mean your words. It took me 10 minutes to produce this answer, how long would it take Congress to agree?

Yes , its a complicated problem in need of a complicated solution. You start by striping away any racist vestige and you make sure that its application is uniform across all peoples and borders. For example, airport and Canadian entering illegal immigrants should be stopped and prosecuted with the same intensity and vigor as those arriving from south of the border . If this kind of policy would ensue, you would have very little political flak form the millions of legal Mexicans who are descendants of people from this region far longer than anyone else with exception of the 100% native Americans. A full 45% of illegals are NOT from south of the border but are from countries such as Iran and Pakistan. That's why the focus has to change if we are to begin to effectively stop illegal immigration into the USA

I see a lot of great answers. Homer, AJ, Don M, Cibercities, socalrogueling...pretty much covered it all. Excellent solutions for a highly emotional problem.

For me...the huge issue is the draining of our resourses. I have worked for years with the elderly and the mentally handicapped and see that these programs are being "reduced" for lack of funding.

We must take care of our own first. This means we must remove, reduce and restrict the flow of those who truly do not belong here until invited.

Enforce the laws against hiring illegals that would send them back to home if they could not get any jobs. And absolutely cut any goverment benifits.
